Job Description:
Working under the direction of the Manager or Senior Team Lead,
will be responsible for planning and executing software development
projects to enrich the experience of customers with MathWorks
products; partnering with extended software development teams to
plan, track and execute complex, cross organizational software
development programs; coordinating the design and development of
interactive engineering and scientific software products; managing
complex programs involving multiple projects executed by cross
functional and cross organizational teams to achieve the strategic
objectives of the organization; defining program charters and
securing buy-in; using technical background to define appropriate
strategy, goals, objectives and success criteria; building and
managing MathWorks product development including determining
requirements, defining use cases, and performing functional design,
database design, and MATLAB code development; defining technical
and business roadmaps; identifying stakeholders and defining their
roles and responsibilities and documenting the RACI matrix;
identifying, analyzing and evaluating risks based on probability
and impact matrix and defining mitigation strategies; monitoring
and tracking risks and prioritizing mitigation strategies; defining
communication matrix, and defining metrics and KPIs; performing
program analysis, managing risk, identifying and influencing
necessary development corrections, and communicating program status
and activities across multiple levels of management; facilitating
technical design review sessions with senior management to review
functional and architectural designs, gather their feedback,
formulate responses and help the team make design trade-offs and
decisions; and assessing and improving the processes that comprise
the software development life cycle. Education and Experience: Masters degree or higher (or foreign education equivalent) in
Engineering or Computer Science and two (2) years of experience in
job offered or two (2) years of experience in development, testing,
or technical support of mathematical simulation software. OR Bachelors degree (or foreign education equivalent) in
Engineering or Computer Science and six (6) years of experience in
job offered or six (6) years of experience in development, testing,
or technical support of mathematical simulation software. Special Requirements: Demonstrated expertise programming in C/C++, MATLAB, and
Simulink. Demonstrated expertise building and maintaining MATLAB or
Simulink data tools to perform data processing, analytics, and
reporting. Demonstrated expertise executing software development projects,
including performing program analysis, identifying and managing
risks and mitigation strategies, performing effort estimation,
defining and implementing knowledge management tools and
strategies, and delivering status updates to senior management. Demonstrated expertise applying Lean concepts to implement
process improvement initiatives -- identifying scope for process
improvement and identifying deltas -- for software development; and
recommending and implementing best practices to improve developer
