Job Description:

Will translate and localize software strings in various file formats using

proprietary and industry standard software translation tools. Will

translate and prepare online help, user documentation, tutorials, and

marketing materials. Will utilize translation tools and maintain

translation memories. Will create, update, and maintain style guides.

Will populate, maintain, and expand terminology databases and in-house

glossaries and perform linguistic Quality Assurance. Will mentor new

employees and develop and cross-train team members. Will demonstrate

translation skills, including accuracy, completeness, fidelity of message,

idiomatic usage, and style appropriateness in all translations. All

writing, editing, and testing will be conducted in both English and the

target language (German), with special emphasis on content, problems of

grammar and nuance, and cultural distinctions.

Requirements:

Master’s degree (or equivalent foreign education) in Technical Writing,

Translation, Communications, Linguistics or related field as well as two

(2) years of experience in the job offered or two (2) years of experience

in technical translation.

OR, in the alternative,

Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent foreign education) in Technical Writing,

Translation, Communications, Linguistics or related field as well as four

(4) years of experience in the job offered or four (4) years of experience

in technical translation.

Special Requirements:

1) Demonstrated expertise writing in both English and German, as well as

oral and written fluency in both English and German.

2) Demonstrated expertise with translation memory tools, including Trados,

Passolo and SDL WorldServer, as well as localization expertise in

Information Technology and Training, Marketing, and Legal materials.

3) Demonstrated expertise with localization Quality Assurance and

engineering, including Software Problem Report (SPR) process, investigation

and resolution, and multi-component query management across multiple

languages.

4) Demonstrated expertise in terminology management, including the use of

SDL MultiTerm.

5) Demonstrated expertise with Machine Translation (MT) and post editing.
