Job Description:
Working under the direction of the Manager or Senior Team Lead,
will be responsible for conducting user research, collecting and
documenting user requirements, facilitating user interface design,
advocating for the user throughout the development process, and
testing and evaluating user interfaces; conducting user-centered
research and design activities related to MathWorks products and
web applications; working with development teams to understand
their projects' user-centered design requirements, and developing
creative solutions for meeting those needs; working collaboratively
to brainstorm and design innovative solutions to complex problems;
making recommendations to team members about which usability
methods to use to answer their questions about users and design
directions based on projects' needs, goals and constraints;
conducting user research, identifying pain points, developing user
profiles and creating task lists; contributing to requirements and
design documents; collaborating on paper and functional prototypes;
running usability tests, conducting interviews and site visits,
organizing surveys, and performing other usability assessments as
appropriate; and helping teams interpret and understand user
feedback, and providing input for design decisions based on that
feedback. Education and Experience: Masters degree in Human Factors, Human Factors in Information
Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Information, Engineering,
Computer Science, or a closely related field (or foreign education
equivalent) and no experience. Special Requirements: Demonstrated expertise conducting user research and usability
assessments, including gathering user requirements, conducting
heuristic evaluations, and interpreting and analyzing user feedback
using UX methods -- surveys, A/B testing, and affinization; and
performing qualitative and quantitative usability testing. Demonstrated expertise interpreting, analyzing and representing
key information from user data and datasets into visualizations
according to data visualization best practices to understand user
workflows -- including writing tests to model user workflows -- and
translating user requirements to actionable items and
specifications for design and functionality improvement. Demonstrated expertise using qualitative and quantitative
research methods to analyze user behavior in the signal processing
and communication field; and identifying user pains and evaluating
product features to impact strategy and product direction. Demonstrated expertise leveraging data science techniques --
statistics and machine learning -- to understand and draw
