Job Description:
Working under the direction of the Director or Senior Manager,
will be responsible for planning, directing and coordinating test
development activities for MATLAB infrastructure, including
managing the development of test suites and the performance of
hands-on testing of low-level MATLAB infrastructure components;
managing a team of 4-8 highly technical Quality Engineers; guiding
and coaching around the development of test suites; providing
day-to-day mentorship and coaching for Quality Engineers on how to
work effectively and efficiently with their project teams; coaching
direct reports, including setting goals and objectives, writing
reviews and holding regular one-on-one meetings; providing hands-on
help to direct reports when appropriate including creating test
plans, leading component design reviews and usability testing;
providing direction to improve the development of software to test
MATLAB infrastructure; and managing test components of software
development projects from the early design stages and playing a
critical role in driving to final product release. Education and Experience: Masters degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely
related field (or foreign education equivalent) and four (4) years
of experience in job offered or four (4) years of experience in
design and development of automated testing frameworks for MATLAB
infrastructure components. OR Ph.D degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely
related field (or foreign education equivalent) and two (2) years
of experience in job offered or two (2) years of experience in
design and development of automated testing frameworks for MATLAB
infrastructure components. Special Requirements: Demonstrated expertise debugging C++ code on Windows, Linux, and
Mac systems, including debugging race conditions and performance
bottlenecks, using debugging tools -- GDB, Visual Studio, LLDB, and
Vtune. Demonstrated expertise writing test plans and authoring test and
build algorithms in C++, MATLAB, Java, and JavaScript to support
testing of multi-threaded and multi-process applications; and
designing and developing test infrastructures for test
automation. Demonstrated expertise acting as technical lead on software
testing projects for infrastructure libraries, new applications,
and business critical refactoring of legacy applications at the
architectural design level, according to Agile Scrum and data
driven software development methodologies; performing program
analysis, identifying and managing risks and mitigation strategies
for quality issues; performing effort estimation, and defining and
implementing knowledge management tools and strategies; and
creating, analyzing and publishing quality metrics and measures
across teams to communicate release quality, and delivering status
updates to senior management. Demonstrated expertise applying Lean concepts to manage software
test development projects including implementing process
improvement initiatives -- identifying scope for process
improvement and identifying deltas -- for technical debt and
quality issues; and recommending and implementing best practices to
improve quality engineer workflows and increase team
