Job Description:

Working under the direction of the Engineering Manager 1, will be

responsible for contributing to the development of graphical user interfaces

that will advance the use of mathematical modeling in the biological

sciences; contributing to all levels of the software development cycle

including architecture, design, implementation, and testing; gathering

requirements, designing/developing specifications and implementing plans for

new capabilities; programming and debugging in Java and MATLAB; and adhering

to high quality coding and testing practices.

Education and Experience:

Master’s degree (or foreign educational equivalent) in Engineering, Computer

Science, Theoretical and Applied Mechanics or Fluid Mechanics and no

experience.

OR

Bachelor’s degree (or foreign educational equivalent) in Engineering,

Computer Science, Theoretical and Applied Mechanics or Fluid Mechanics and

five (5) years of experience in job offered or five (5) years of experience

in Java UI development.

Special Requirements:

• Demonstrated expertise in User Interface object oriented programming

for low latency applications in Java/Java Swing using Agile Software

Development methodologies, including 3rd party software libraries - JideSoft

and JFreeCharts and TestNG.

• Demonstrated expertise developing web applications using HTML5,

JavaScript and CSS.

• Demonstrated expertise writing software for multi-threaded client-

server architecture environments in Java, C++ or MATLAB following the Model-

View-Controller software architecture.

• Demonstrated expertise writing SQL queries for MySQL or SQLite

databases, and JDBC (Java Database Connectivity) to implement testing

infrastructures and database object retrieval, XML and DOM parsers to save

data in XML files for desktop applications.
