Job Description:

Working under the direction of the Engineering Manager, will be

responsible for performing web development to create Search features

with mathworks.com community web applications; working with a variety of

business units to gather requirements and create functional

specifications; collaborating with Designers, Quality Engineers, User

Experience Specialists, Project Managers and Application Owners to

create a high-quality web application; balancing multiple development

projects and working with cross-functional teams through all phases of

development; designing, developing, and implementing changes to

mathworks.com community web applications; working with business units to

develop and document requirements and functional specifications;

creating technical specifications and reviewing with the architecture

team; collaborating with the user experience and design teams to develop

workflows and page designs; preparing and conducting presentations to

obtain agreement on application designs; working with Quality Engineers

to ensure test cases and plans are appropriately developed and adhered

to; and working with the infrastructure team to ensure applications

support high performance.

Education and Experience:

Master’s degree or higher (or foreign education equivalent) in

Engineering or Computer Science and no experience.

OR

Bachelor’s degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Engineering or

Computer Science and five (5) years of experience in job offered or five

(5) years of experience in development or technical support of web

search functionality.

Special Requirements:

• Demonstrated expertise designing web search functionality using

Elasticsearch or SOLR, including writing SQL queries to transfer and

index data to Elasticsearch or SOLR.

• Demonstrated expertise designing recommender systems to create

“Content-based filtering” functionality using Java, Python, or Ruby.

• Demonstrated expertise in search engine and machine learning

algorithm design using algorithm-based technologies – TF/IDF,

BagOfWords, Clustering and Classification.

• Demonstrated expertise programming in MATLAB, and Java, Python,

or Ruby, following Agile development methodologies.
