Evaluates strategic opportunities -- corporate venture
investments, potential acquisitions, divestitures, strategic
alliances, and business unit evaluations and reviews. Gathers and
synthesizes materials on companies, products, and industries and
effectively communicates findings to management and stakeholders.
Researches and analyzes current and future trends in the financial
services industry -- asset management, discount brokerage,
institutional services, and retirement services. Monitors
fundamental economic, industrial, and corporate developments by
analyzing information from financial publications and services,
investment banking firms, government agencies, trade publications,
company sources, or personal interviews. Primary Responsibilities: Supports the valuation and due diligence process of potential
acquisitions and strategic investments. Assists with the evaluations of core and non-core businesses --
improving financial profitability and overall strategy. Performs research and maintains affiliations with professional
organizations. Monitors strategic moves of top competitors and industry leaders
and new entrants in the field. Researches developments in the fields of industrial technology,
business, finance, and economic theory. Develops complex financial and valuation models using investment
principles. Prepares investment plans for the team using financial research
and analyses. Presents oral and written reports on general economic trends,
individual corporations, and industries. Interprets data on price, yield, stability, future investment
risk trends, economic influences, and factors affecting investment
programs. Education and Experience: Bachelors degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Economics,
Mathematics, Finance, Accounting, or a closely related field and
three (3) years of experience in the job offered or three (3) years
of experience performing financial and competitive market analysis
to evaluate strategic investments and transactions in the financial
services industry. Or, alternatively, Masters degree (or foreign education
equivalent) in Economics, Mathematics, Finance, Accounting, or a
closely related field and one (1) year of experience in the job
offered or one (1) year of experience performing financial and
competitive market analysis to evaluate strategic investments and
transactions in the financial services industry. Skills and Knowledge: Candidate must also possess: Demonstrated Expertise (DE) examining company financial,
governance, operating models, and go-to-market strategies to
identify advantages in operations, finance, risk, and technology;
conducting due diligence during mergers, acquisitions, and
strategic investments using virtual data rooms; modeling and
recommending purchase prices using discounted cash flow analysis;
negotiating transaction terms; and providing senior management and
business stakeholders with purchase price recommendations, return
on investment analysis, and revenue and expense synergies to enable
key investment and asset allocation decisions. DE performing complex financial modeling -- processing financial
and operational data, creating financial (income statement, balance
sheet, and cash flow) statements and operating models, bear, bull,
and base scenario analysis, valuing companies, using discounted
cash flows, comparable public company, and transaction analysis --
using Microsoft Excel and S&P Capital IQ. DE conducting market research and industry competitive analysis
-- analyzing financial and operational data of key companies -- on
industry trends, competitor fundamentals, survey results, broker
and consultant reports, and company news releases using third-party
databases (Cerulli and Pitchbook); analyzing SEC financial
regulatory filings; and examining regulatory changes and presenting
results of that analysis to senior management and business
stakeholders. DE partnering with matrixed teams -- product, sales, legal, and
technology -- to evaluate and identify strategic opportunities
encompassing corporate venture investments, potential acquisitions,
divestitures, strategic alliances, and partnerships; analyzing
non-core businesses for commercialization or divestiture to help
business units prioritize investment priorities; and performing
business planning, market sizing and segmentation, and implementing
strategic initiatives, using Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and
screening (Pitchbook and CB Insights) and tracking tools
