Job Description:
MIT Human Resources Department Director of Benefits MIT Human Resources seeks a director of benefits to assume
strategic leadership responsibility for the benefit programs of
roughly 10,000 employees and 5,000 retirees, ensuring philosophical
and strategic fit with Institute objectives and competitiveness
with similar organizations. Will lead--in partnership with the VP
for HR and in collaboration with MIT leadership--the strategic
review, design, and implementation of benefits programs designed to
attract, retain, and engage current staff and faculty and prepare
for future workforce trends. Responsibilities include overseeing
Benefits Office, administration of benefits, customer service,
general operations, ensuring compliance with legal requirements,
and monitoring and analyzing tax and governmental legislation and
economic trends. Requirements: Bachelor's degree (Master's a plus); a minimum of
ten years' experience planning and administering a wide variety of
employee benefit plans; demonstrated experience with a defined
benefit pension plan; strong working knowledge of pension plans and
regulations, including hybrid plan (cash balance) design and
operation, ideally with experience overseeing environments of this
type; deep knowledge of current benefits trends and practices;
superior communications skills, including ability to influence,
lead, and manage change thoughtfully and positively; leadership
experience in a large, complex environment; demonstrated ability to
clearly present complex information to individuals at the highest
level of the organization; strong project management skills with a
proven track record of prioritizing and completing projects on time
and on budget and with attention to detail; experience working with
legal counsel and consultants and negotiating contracts with and
managing vendors; and broad understanding of legal regulations and
