Title: Product Analyst II - Quantitative (Boston, MA)

Description:

Working under the direction of Product Manager, will contribute to the

development of the company’s product features, pricing and competitive

position. Will analyze business issues and provide recommendations for the

implementation of new rating plans, underwriting rules, process

improvements, and other initiatives to support profitable growth and

improve competitive position. Specifically:

• Understands predictive modeling and other quantitative concepts and

serves as a resource to other Product Analysts in interpreting these

concepts for business application;

• Develops and presents a comprehensive review of the products he/she

is responsible for;

• Examines the impact of changes in state regulatory environment on

the product and business processes and proposes necessary changes;

• Designs, reviews, and analyzes monthly and quarterly reports used

to manage the company’s financial and operational performance, as well as

ad hoc analyses as needed;

• Analyzes competitive data, identifies trends and opportunities;

• Recommends areas for enhancement to products to improve competitive

position;

• Plays a key role in User Acceptance Testing, product verification

and product implementation;

• Assist with annual loss and premium budgets;

• Effectively uses available tools and data systems to identify, test

and solve strategic business issues within the company data/reports,

troubleshoots when there are inconsistencies and presents findings to

management;

• Collaborates with the Actuarial team and other functional areas

such as Customer Service, Marketing, Claims, Finance, Information Systems,

and Senior Management to assess the potential effects of product changes

and incorporates these considerations into recommendations;

• Constructively challenges current processes and proposed solutions

to obtain the best outcome.

Education and Experience:

MBA or Master’s degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Economics or Actuarial

Science (or foreign educational equivalent) and one (1) year of experience

in insurance product profitability analysis.

Special Requirements:

Also requires demonstrated expertise: (1) reporting, rate making, and

pricing using SAS, SQL, and Excel; (2) testing and analyzing insurance

product premiums, rating changes and performance measures; and (3)

developing quantitative models to analyze customer risk profiles for

insurance products using SAS, SQL, Excel, and R.
