Senior Mechanical Engineer
Company: Waters Corporation
Location: Milford, MA
Posted on: September 26, 2014
Job Description:
Duties: Apply sound knowledge of engineering principles,
material science, mechatronics, thermal dynamics, and computational fluid dynamics
in the development and analysis of prototype/system design. Employ
system engineering/analysis techniques to the design and development of
complex engineering projects over their life cycles. Master the analysis
tools such as ANSYS CFX, MATLAB and Mathcad. Conduct experiments and
feasibility studies to verify performance and functionality.
Demonstrate/document feasibility of designs to fulfill prescribed requirements with
test data and supplemental root cause analysis to justify design
approaches. Work efficiently in a project team to develop, evaluate and qualify
mechanical and electro-mechanical assemblies, components, materials,
processes for incorporation into new product/system design. Provide technical
analysis support and guidance to team members and other development
groups to implement designs with proven feasibility into commercial
products while ensuring conformance to company and customer requirements. Requirements: Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering (willing
to accept foreign education equivalent) as well as 3 years of
experience in the job offered or 3 years of experience in the design and
development of Ultra Performance Liquid Chromatography (UPLC) instruments from
concept through production or, alternatively, a Bachelor's degree and 5
years of experience as noted above. Experience must include: Demonstrated
expertise (DE) in analytical modeling and design -- Finite Element
Analysis (FEA), Computational Fluid Dynamic analysis and Stress and Strain
analysis-- of UPLC instruments with a fluid interface; DE performing testing
and verification of analytical models for UPLC instruments; DE in
system and performance modeling using MATLAB and Simulink, and
SimHydraulics, Simscape, Control System, Signal Processing, MATLAB Coder,
MATLAB Compiler toolboxes for liquid chromatography systems; DE performing
acoustic analysis and prominent discrete noise tone analysis using
MATLAB, analysis and measurement using National Instrument Sound and Vibration
Toolkit with Labview signal express, and modeling flow path with MacroFlow;
DE performing stress analysis, thermal analysis and computational
fluid dynamics analysis with FEA software ANSYS; DE performing thermal
load analysis in simulating thermal system concepts using ANSYS,
ICEPAK and MATLAB; DE evaluating materials properties with INSTRON for
tension, compression, flexture, fatigue, impact, torsion, and hardness;
DE performing material/failure/contamination analysis with Scanning
Electron Microscope (SEM), Energy-Dispersive X-ray Spectroscopy (EDS),
Zygo 3D surface profiler), Nikon industrial microscope with
interference differential contrast (DIC); DE performing cost
analysis/reduction for feasible solutions with known or estimable parameters/quantities
to produce an optimal solution. Apply online at www.waters.com and click careers.
