Job Description:

Position: Vertica Administrator (Boston, MA)

Duties: Manage and grow infrastructure supporting our large-scale

internet e-commerce platform and big data analytics environment. Focus

on administration of Vertica with exposure to a broad range of database

technologies including Hadoop, Solr, memcache, Redis, SQL Server, and

MySQL. Provide support of Vertica infrastructure including cluster

monitoring and troubleshooting; perform SQL or Workload Manager query

tuning and optimizations; perform analytical and big data application

design, and cluster expansion and support. Install updates and patches.

Work with Business Intelligence teams to develop business initiatives

and algorithms. Monitor and troubleshoot replication, performance, and

high availability.

Requirements: Master of Science degree in Computer Science, Engineering,

Information Technology (willing to accept foreign education equivalent)

plus 2 years of experience performing SQL Server or Vertica database

administration or a Bachelor's degree (will accept a 3-or-4 year

Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent) and 5 years of experience as

stated above. Also requires, demonstrated expertise performing large-

scale data analytics in multiple environments; demonstrated expertise

performing SQL Server and Vertica database installation and

administration; demonstrated expertise performing SQL Server and Vertica

clustering, configuration and implementation; demonstrated expertise

creating high availability database solutions including replication

modeling, performance monitoring, and capacity planning; and

demonstrated expertise designing queries and stored procedures for data

ETL.
