Skills and Work Experience:+ Bachelor's degree or higher or combination of relevant education, experience, and training+ 1-3 years of progressive accounting experience; CPA is preferred but not required.+ Industry experience with a Fortune 500/multinational consumer products company is preferred but not required.+ Self-motivated, detailed and deadline-oriented, with a proven track record to handle multiple tasks with varying priorities. Ability to remain organized in a fast-paced environment at a growing company.+ Commitment to taking full ownership of job responsibilities as well as overall career path.+ Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to influence others.+ Knowledge of U.S. GAAP and strong analytical skills.+ Strong MS Excel skills, as well as experience using analytical tools such as Tableau and Business Objects.+ Experience with SAP or similar ERP accounting systems preferred but not required.+ Experience with Coupa or similar P2P systems preferred but not required.+ Ability to identify and understand business trends through data analysis and cross functional business partnering.Converse is looking for a Senior Accountant, SG at our WHQ in Boston.This role serves as a key member of the Converse Global Controlling team, which is responsible for accounting and reporting for this $2 billion, multi-national company and one of the most iconic brands in the world. This opportunity is a first step into the Converse Controlling team and can grow within Converse or the Nike enterprise of brands.The Senior Accountant will report into the Converse SI SG Accounting Sr. Manager and will have primary responsibility for SG accounting for Converse's North America and Corporate entities. A successful candidate will be passionate and high energy, a succinct and effective communicator, and will have a strong desire to continue to learn and develop professionally in all aspects of accounting, and continuous process improvement by identifying and achieving efficiencies. We are looking for a phenomenal teammate with a collaborative style, who can partner successfully with the functional leads within the Controller's group, finance and business partners and counterparts on the Nike Global Controlling team.Key Responsibilities:+ Full ownership of all responsibilities associated with SG accounting for Converse's North America business as well as their Corporate entity. Coordinating with counterparts in Converse geographies and Nike global team to ensure consistent processes and policy application.+ Primary responsibilities include, but not limited to, accruals/journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, reviewing/interpreting contracts, enhancing and maintaining P and cost center spend reporting, T expense management, maintaining key SOX control framework, and ad-hoc projects.+ Quarterly review of factory store P profitability to evaluate potential asset impairment triggers. Partner with Finance on cash flow recoverability projections.+ Develop and maintain mutually beneficial relationships with the North America and Global Finance teams as well as business functions such as Legal IT, Distribution Center Operations, Store Operations, Digital and counterparts in the Nike Controlling team.+ Learn and develop a proficiency in the use of SAP and other reporting and analytical tools to drive efficiencies and enhanced reporting capabilities.+ Drive accountability and educate Converse business partners on our end to end spend management process through the use proper use of purchase orders, contracts and advising on proper accounting treatment.+ Drive efficiencies through a continuous focus on process improvement by using technology, developing standardized procedures and optimally using Converse's 3rd party shared service provider.+ Cross-train and support day to day AP Operations including but not limited to assisting in preparation of and/or reviewing payments, month end AP close process, pending invoice review and subledger account reconciliation.+ Support and lead Procure To Pay (P2P) projects, as needed.
