Job Description:
GENERAL SUMMARY
The Staff Accountant works under the supervision of the Corporate
Accounting Manager and is responsible for assisting with
maintenance of financial reports, records, and general ledgers.
He/she will be responsible for a variety of month-end tasks and the
upkeep of different balance sheet accounts. This is key contributor
role with minimum supervision and a high level of responsibility in
a fast paced finance department.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Month-end close functions for multiple companies including full
reconciliation of all balance sheet accounts, general ledger review
and assisting with trend analysis/flux analysis
- Record journal entries including accruals, prepaid expenses,
amortization, and depreciation
- Maintain accurate financial schedules including fixed assets,
lease, and other cost schedules
- Provide schedules and documents requested for the Americas
during the global audit
- Intercompany invoicing
- Calculate and file Sales Tax
monthly/quarterly/annually
- Handle requests for sales tax related documents from customers
and vendors
- Assist in the preparation of the biweekly Cashflow
Forecast
- Review AP and AR ageing, liaise and follow up with AP and AR
teams, and assist with cleanup as needed
- Work directly with 3rd party providers to provide schedules and
documents to assist with the annual tax return preparation,
estimated tax payments and the Americas year-end review
- Code corporate credit card and travel statements
- Provide AP support including, but not limited to correspondence
with vendors, processing invoices, payments and updating compliance
as needed
- Assist with daily bank reconciliation and cash reporting as
needed
- Review new vendors' set-up for accuracy
- Initiate wire transfers in banking portal
- Maintain Business Registrations and file Annual Reports in
various states to ensure good standing status
- Point of contact to resolve banking issues
- Fill out vendor credit apps for AP team
- Prepare and file 1099s
- Ad hoc reporting and other duties/projects as
requested
- Act as coverage when other team members are out of the
office
- Demonstrate ownership of assigned responsibilities and
completing work timely and accurately
- Cross-train on other Accounting Department functions and
perform other support tasks as assigned
PREPARATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
- 3-5 years of relevant experience
- Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business
- Microsoft Excel proficiency (VLOOKUP, pivot tables,
etc.)
- Strong attention to detail and critical thinking
skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, not afraid to
pick up the phone
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Problem solver who takes action
- Fast and eager learner who thrives in tackling new and diverse
challenges with the ability to think outside the box
- Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment and
effectively under pressure to meet deadlines
- Account Reconciliation experience and understanding of key
accounting standards a MUST
- Experience with preparing for annual audits and responding to
related requests a MUST
- Experience working with multiple entities and
intra/intercompany reconciliation a plus
- Construction Accounting, Property Accounting, or Public
Accounting experience a plus
- Experience working with multinational,
multijurisdictionalorganizations, international currencies and FX a
plus
- Project Accounting Software or Vista/Viewpoint experience a
plus
- Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-past environment without
reminders
- Ability to work with large amounts of data while maintaining
accurate and up-to-date records
