GENERAL SUMMARYThe Staff Accountant position is a highly visible role within the organization, responsible for daily transaction processing, support of the bi-weekly payroll process, participation in the monthly end close, and preparation of accurate financial & operational metrics. This role reports to the Finance Manager and supports the financial and operational responsibilities of the organization.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONSFinance

  • Support the general accounting function including preparation of journal entries, maintenance of prepaid amortization schedules and assistance with the month end financial close.
  • Process invoices and expense reports, record transactions into the general ledger and ensure timely and accurate payment to vendors. Maintain accurate records of all accounts payable transactions and communicate with internal and external stakeholders to resolve any payment issues.
  • Assist with the treasury function including cash deposits and transfers, preparation of wire payments and reconciliation of bank statements.
  • Prepare and analyze financial statements and ensure compliance with accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and internal controls related to financial reporting.
  • Support internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation and explanations to ensure compliance with tax regulations, reporting requirements, and government filings.
  • Conduct financial analysis to provide insights to senior management to support decision-making and strategic planning.
  • Develop and maintain accounting policies and procedures in accordance with best practices and industry standards.
  • Safeguard company assets, maintain confidentiality with all financial documents, organizational information, and internal personnel information.Payroll
  • Prepares and processes bi-weekly payroll utilizing ADP payroll service, maintains processing schedule and validates payroll results to ensure accuracy.
  • Develops and implements payroll policies and procedures around ADP functionality.
  • Oversees optimal utilization of ADP HRIS integrate HR/payroll/time/attendance system; establish and maintain feeds to synchronize payroll data with accounting software.
  • Process payments for payroll and state tax deposits, quarterly taxes, and W-2 forms.
  • Ensures payroll compliance with all relevant legal, regulatory, and internal laws and policies.
  • Maintains procedures for routine processing, tax reporting and internal financial requirements.
  • Resolves payroll issues and fixes errors.PREPARATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or equivalent business/finance degree required. Masters' degree and/or CPA designation preferred.
  • Minimum of 3-years' general ledger accounting and payroll experience in either the public, nonprofit or corporate environment, experience in a senior financial position preferred.
  • Proficient in financial accounting and payroll software packages. Knowledge of and experience with Certinia business applications and ADP payroll and HR management solutions strongly preferred.
  • Skilled user of Excel, including spreadsheet modeling, complex formulas, pivot tables, and macros.
  • Oral and written communication skills and ability to write concise, narrative financial reports.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and/or in a team environment with the ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities within a deadline driven environment.
  • Understanding of governmental regulations and accounting practices and experience with GASB and the pronouncements of the FASB.
  • Outstanding attention to detail with excellent organizational skills.
  • Proven ability to manage sensitive, confidential data with discretion.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

  • Normal office working conditions include frequent sitting, walking, bending and computer monitor use.
