Job Summary RA Capital Management is seeking a highly capable and
analytically strong Finance Associate to support the firm’s
corporate accounting and reporting functions within the Finance
team. This role works closely with senior finance leadership,
including the Finance Director and Senior Finance Associate, and
partners closely with the Finance Associate to support day-to-day
operations and ongoing initiatives. This position is well suited
for a Finance Associate with 3–5 years of experience who has
demonstrated the ability to take ownership of accounting processes
and analytical workstreams, exercise sound accounting judgment, and
operate effectively with limited supervision. The role is
execution-focused, yet requires strong analytical skills, attention
to detail, and comfort managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced
environment. Key Responsibilities Corporate Accounting & Financial
Operations Support day-to-day corporate accounting activities for
the Management Company and related entities. Prepare and review
journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules
as part of the month-end and quarter-end close processes. Process
and review Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable activity,
ensuring appropriate approvals, accurate coding, and proper
documentation. Perform monthly cash reconciliations and assist with
cash reporting and analysis. Assist in the preparation of monthly
and quarterly financial reporting packages, including variance
analysis and ad hoc reporting requests. Support monthly
international close by accurately recording foreign currency
translations and preparing consolidated financial statements.
Expense Management & Reporting Support Conduct monthly review of
fund expenses including consulting, legal, and deal expenses.
Support Board of Directors’ compensation tracking and reimbursement
processing. Review Travel & Expense reports for accuracy, policy
compliance, and proper allocation. Provide analysis of expense
trends and support optimization and process improvement
initiatives. Assist with expense allocation workbooks and
coordination with fund accounting partners. Compliance, Tax &
Regulatory Support Assist with state registrations and ongoing
compliance requirements, including accurate tracking of
city/state-level tax expenses and payments. Support sales and use
tax reporting and filings, including preparation of supporting
documentation. Assist with 1099 reporting processes in coordination
with internal tax partners. Fixed Assets, Vendors & Process
Ownership Maintain fixed asset schedules and support depreciation
tracking and reporting. Assist with vendor management activities,
including onboarding documentation and data maintenance. Take
ownership of defined accounting processes or projects, identifying
opportunities for improved efficiency, controls, and documentation.
Partner cross-functionally with Operations, Compliance, IT, Tax,
and external vendors to resolve issues and support ongoing
initiatives. Cross-Functional Collaboration & Project Management
Assist the team with accounting-related inquiries from internal
stakeholders across various levels of the organization. Manage
multiple workstreams simultaneously, prioritizing deliverables and
meeting deadlines with limited supervision. Support special
projects and ad hoc analyses as requested by senior finance
leadership. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting,
Finance, or a related field required. 3–5 years of relevant
accounting or finance experience, preferably within asset
management, investment management, or a professional services
environment. Demonstrated experience owning accounting processes
and supporting analytical workstreams. Prior experience supporting
month-end close, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
Experience with international consolidation and foreign currency
translation is preferred. Strong understanding of accounting
principles and financial operations. Proficiency with accounting
systems (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite). Advanced Excel skills,
including the ability to analyze and reconcile large data sets.
Experience with expense management systems (e.g., Concur)
preferred. Candidates must be AI-forward thinkers willing to
incorporate AI into their work to be more efficient and effective.
Must have experience using AI and strategically leveraging various
AI tools Ability to work a hybrid schedule at our Boston office
Must be authorized to work in the US without sponsorship
Compensation RA Capital Management is committed to fair and
equitable compensation practices. Pay for this position will be
based on experience, skills, qualifications, and current market
conditions. In addition to base salary (listed below), employees
may be eligible for performance-based bonuses and a comprehensive
