Job Description We are an upscale, concierge type group
optometry practice in the Back Bay neighborhood of Boston,
Massachusetts with an immediate opportunity for a medical
receptionist due to retirement of one of our staff. We are seeking
an individual with excellent communication and organizational
skills who enjoys interacting with patients. This individual will
work with a second medical receptionist. These positions are
critical to our organization, as the front desk staff are the
---face of our practice---. The ideal candidate must enjoy working
with people, have a friendly demeanor and outstanding communication
skills. Job duties: Greeting patients as they arrive and leave
Answering phone calls and being able to answer patient questions
Scheduling patients and assisting with patient recalls Notifying
clinical staff of patient arrivals and putting patients in exam
rooms Faxing and scanning medical documents into patient electronic
health records Arranging for external appointments with
sub-specialists Verifying insurance eligibility for vision and
medical plans Ensuring all office forms are filled out at time of
check out Collecting patient charges and reconciling patient
balances for materials and services Providing patients with
invoices Keeping the reception area clean and organized Making sure
that patient flow is maintained Job requirements: Excellent phone
management skills using a multi-line telephone system Computer and
internet searching skills Ability to work with an electronic
medical record system Associates degree or equivalent experience in
health care setting Position is for on-site (no remote), 30 hours
per week minimum but 40 hours preferred. Full time benefits include

include the DETTM test for dry eye, LipiFlow thermal pulsation for
dry eye, LipiView for measurement of tear film lipid layer
thickness, Dynamic Meibomian Imaging and LipiScan to evaluate the
structure of the oil glands in the lids, and the Meibomian Gland
Evaluator for the quantitative evaluation of meibomian gland
function. Our research also resulted in commercialization of Soothe
XPTM (Bausch and Lomb) and Systane BalanceTM (Alcon), the first
lipid-based solutions for evaporative dry eye. In the contact lens
field, our practice pioneered the design of the first membrane soft
contact lens, which has served as the model for all contemporary
soft lenses. Our research also resulted in the design of rigid
gas-permeable contact lenses and fitting strategies for specific
conditions including keratoconus and irregular corneas. We are the
only practice in New England offering the EyePrint Pro and can
fully customize any type of lens.
