Job Description:
Working under the direction of the Manager or Senior Team Lead,
will be responsible for designing, developing and testing
sophisticated software; building and operating a sophisticated
internal web application platform; operating and enhancing the
current generation of the platform, built on Azure Kubernetes
Services, and designing and building the next generation, including
serverless computing; upgrading OS and application components,
maintaining virtual machines, configuring load balancers,
troubleshooting failures, and managing incidents; upgrading and
supporting new databases, languages, add-ons, and other new Labs
components; supporting the user base (all MathWorks staff);
engaging the Labs community and answering questions; providing
direct technical support through help requests; consulting on
advanced / complex projects. Education and Experience: Masters degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely
related field (or foreign education equivalent) and no
experience. Special Requirements: Demonstrated expertise in server configuration management using
Ansible and infrastructure management using Nagios or AWS
CloudWatch; and writing shell scripts using Python and Bash. Demonstrated expertise building and deploying web applications
within a distributed computing environment using Amazon Web
Services (AWS), Azure Kubernetes Services and Docker; and
performing containerization using Docker and orchestration using
Kubernetes. Demonstrated expertise in configuration, administration and
maintenance of third party systems and infrastructure -- software
version control systems and systems required to build, test and
deploy web applications using GitLab CI, Jenkins, and Maven - and
cloud based infrastructure using Azure, VMware vSphere and Amazon
web services (EC2). Demonstrated expertise performing version control and continuous
integration, including analysis and implementation of branching
strategies using Git and SVN, and tracking and analyzing bugs using
