Supplier Quality Engineer

Job Description:

Leads Continuous Improvement initiatives to reduce product defect rate and
streamline the supplier Return Manufacturing Authorization (RMA) process.
Ensures purchased products conform to requirements for implementing quality
related-programs and projects. Serves as a liaison between suppliers and
Operations to ensure that supply chain quality objectives are met. Plans
and implements supplier quality management programs including supplier
selection, qualification, monitoring, and continual improvement.
Participates in source evaluation and approval of potential suppliers.
Plans and leads supplier quality audits and process assessments for both
prospective and current suppliers. Works with suppliers to investigate
product quality problems, determine root cause, and ensure implementation
of corrective actions to reduce or eliminate waste and nonconformity.
Ensures supplier capability and control to meet product launch and ongoing
production quality objectives. Leads compliance and regulatory (RoHS,
REACH, and conflict minerals) activities to ensure all requirements are
met. Develops and implements quality metrics to monitor and measure
supplier quality performance. Analyzes measurement results and identifies
trends, risks and opportunities for improvement. Champions the process for
review and disposition of nonconforming product with supplier-caused
defects, communicates identified issues, and drives corrective actions by
the suppliers. Defines verification procedures and coordinates inspection
and testing in the Incoming Inspection area to support Manufacturing.
Coordinates failure analysis activities to determine root cause of
supplier-caused nonconformities. Leads supplier qualification and
component verification activities.

Requirements: Master's degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical
Engineering, Engineering Management or a related engineering field or
related field (willing to accept foreign education equivalent) plus 2 years
of experience performing supply chain management and Quality Assurance. Or,
alternatively, a Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical
Engineering, Engineering Management or a related engineering field (willing
to accept foreign education equivalent) and 4 years of experience
performing supply chain management and Quality Assurance. Also requires:
(1) Demonstrated expertise (DE) leveraging and implementing Statistical
Process Controls (SPC) or similar controls; (2) DE leveraging lean
manufacturing techniques such as value stream mapping, Kaizen, Kanban,
supplier managed inventories, 5S, cycle times, root cause analysis, and
single piece manufacturing flow; and, (3) DE performing root cause analysis
activities with suppliers and customers to eliminate recurrence of non-
conformances and follow up on Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA).
