Description: Build multivariate predictive models to aid in the development
of insurance pricing. Develop customized computer programs for various
statistical analyses. Review external and internal data sources to identify
new variables which may enhance model predictions. Collaborate with
colleagues with diverse backgrounds to bring business value to the
organization. Analyze data on the safety and potential replacement cost of
personal passenger vehicles, in an effort to control company costs. Develop
and evaluate spatial statistical models to analyze and understand which
areas are more prone to insurance losses, utilize for loss projections.
Prepare presentations and oversee small-scale projects.
Requirements: Master's degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Economics or
related field (willing to accept foreign education equivalent) plus two
years of experience developing and implementing multivariate predictive
insurance product models or, alternatively, a doctorate degree in
Statistics, Mathematics, Economics (willing to accept foreign education
equivalent) and zero years of experience.
Also requires demonstrated expertise in the following: survival analysis;
programming in SAS and R, and building code and algorithms for insurance
ratings; building financial risk predictive models; testing and simulating
market risk paths in R using various underlying stochastic differential
equations; leveraging data pre-processing, sampling, statistical tests,
standard machine learning and data mining algorithms, including logistic
regression, decision trees, neural networks, SVM, NA & IUML; VE Bayes, KNN,
K-means clustering, agglomerative clustering, association rules, content-
based filtering, and collaborative filtering; utilizing computing for
statistical problems; obtaining features of distributions, fitting models,
and implementing inference; utilizing basic numerical methods, nonlinear
statistical methods, numerical integration, and modern simulation methods;
and performing data mining and data cleansing, model visualization in
Tableau. *Expertise may be gained during graduate program.
