About the POSITION: The ABA Teacher (Intensive Instruction Day Program) works in NECC's day program under the supervision of the team coordinators and program specialist, while teaching, tutoring, and providing instruction within assigned cohort through the implementation of the scientific principles of applied behavior analysis during the school day and across environments. About YOU: You have a strong interest in working with children and young adults with special needs. You are available for a Monday-Friday (8 am-4 pm) schedule. You are collaborative and aspire towards gaining knowledge and understanding of the principles of ABA and best educational practices. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Teaching as part of a team of professionals in a year-round day program to maximize students' skills and independence
Implementing educational programs and behavior management guidelines in 1:1 and small group formats
Utilizing behavior analytic teaching procedures across classroom and community settings
Instructing students in general curriculum areas, communication, social skills, activities of daily living (ie personal hygiene), vocational, leisure and recreation, adaptive physical education and swimming, community, and self-preservation.
Diligent implementation of all medical, safety, and emergency procedures. ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE: Completion of all role responsibilities, including case management or another role as defined by cohort/classroom assignment and need.
Thorough knowledge and competent implementation of all student educational programs and behavior management guidelines. Interest in working with children or young adults diagnosed with autism and related special needs
Experience using Applied Behavior Analysis, preferred
Driver's license and access to reliable transportation (or ability to obtain)
Successful completion of the NECC training program, including CALM (non-violent self-defense) SKILLS & ABILITIES: Organization and time management skills
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Flexibility and ability to work as part of a team
