Now Hiring Community Schools Teachers for the City of Cambridge. These positions are important roles as part of the Community Schools site-based team, responsible for the overall operation of the afterschool enrichment program for children in grades Junior Kindergarten through Fifth grade. Key Responsibilities: Manage an afterschool enrichment class and supervise assistants and high school youth assigned to the classroom. Develop and implement age-appropriate curriculum in a specialty area for twelve-week sessions. Directly supervise the safety of children and participate in and lead all program activities, take daily attendance, and supervise snack times. Create a positive self-image and respect the social and cultural differences of each child and maintain open communication with families and schools about participants' progress. Participate in scheduled staff meetings and professional development. Maintain classroom equipment, supplies, and report any incidents or accidents to program administrators. Follow all safety protocol and guidelines as outlined by the Dept. of Health and Safety, the Department of Human Service Programs, and the Cambridge Public Schools. Minimum Requirements: Two years of experience working with school-age children. High School Diploma/GED required. Strong interest in working with children from diverse cultural and economic backgrounds. First Aid and CPR certification highly desired (training available upon hire). Ability to work and interact effectively with individuals and groups with a variety of identities, cultures, backgrounds, and ideologies. Some post-secondary education preferred, but not required.
