Working under the direction of the Manager or Senior Team Lead,
will be responsible for researching, designing, developing and
testing system-level web applications; solving complicated
infrastructure and architecture problems, with a focus on improving
site reliability; collaborating with developers and other
engineering teams to ensure reliability, scalability and
performance of MathWorks SaaS and corporate web applications;
leveraging cutting edge technologies including Docker and Amazon
Web Services (AWS); performing system administration; exploring and
implementing automation opportunities to eliminate manual
operations; building, configuring, and enhancing system
administration tools; participating in application and
infrastructure deployment activities for applications hosted
on-premise and in AWS; and supporting development, test and
production environments to ensure high availability of mission
critical web applications.
Education and Experience:
Masters degree or higher (or foreign education equivalent) in
Engineering, Computer Science, or Information Technology and no
Bachelors degree (or foreign education equivalent) in
Engineering, Computer Science, or Information Technology and five
(5) years of experience in job offered or five (5) years of
experience building and deploying web applications within a
distributed computing environment using Amazon Web Services
Demonstrated expertise in architecting, implementing,
administering and maintaining on-premise infrastructure --
Glassfish or Tomcat -- and AWS cloud infrastructure.
Demonstrated expertise administering hardware and software load
balancers -- Kemp, F5, or AWS ALB.
Demonstrated expertise writing shell scripts using Python.
Demonstrated expertise performing version control and continuous
integration, including analysis and implementation of branching
strategies using Git, CVS, or Perforce; and tracking and analyzing
bugs using visualization tools -- Kibana, Splunk, Logstash,
Graphite, or CloudWatch.
