The innovation group works directly with other business units and functional units to incubate new digital products and the underlying data platforms to support them. Our multi-disciplinary teams are composed of product managers, designers, engineers, business strategists, and data scientists who bring the best of design thinking, lean startup, and agile methodologies to solve complex problems. We are looking for entrepreneurial founding members of the team to build the digital future. Our client partner is hiring a full time Head of Engineering, a critical role for the group that will help us develop an innovative software engineering culture focused on harnessing technology to generate value for our customers, for internal employees, and for the business. The Head of Engineering is a member of the innovation group's senior leadership team responsible for driving the evolution from traditional IT to Digital. As part of this, the Head of Engineering will build and scale the digital engineering and platform teams to execute an ambitious digital agenda in collaboration with multi-disciplinary team members. Last but not least, the Head of Engineering will help establish dynamic, fulfilling career development opportunities for our software engineers. What you will do:

  • Evangelize and share insights on Digital new ways of working with the broader organization - particularly when it comes to how technology drives customer and business value.
  • Lead and grow the Digital engineering team, hiring and developing world-class software engineering talent
  • Invest in developing the current and future leaders of the engineering organization as the Digital team scales
  • Help set the vision for the overall digital strategy, while developing and maintaining a technical roadmap that will drive innovation across the company
  • Lead a new Platform Engineering and Digital & Data Platform team within Digital to ensure that application teams have necessary APIs, microservices, and DevOps tools.
  • Collaborate with Enterprise Architects, Information Security, and IT leaders across the organization to ensure a high degree of alignment and prioritization, and timely releases of products and services in support of critical company initiatives
  • Work as an effective leader across the organization, and collaborate with other leaders to translate the business priorities of the company into a technical agenda
  • Establish best practices for building modern applications, including new tools, languages/frameworks, and cloud-based technical architecture What you must have:
    • Bachelor's degree or better in Computer Science or related field
    • 10+ years of engineering leadership experience
    • A strong track record of successful software development and delivery of complex, enterprise-grade software that resulted in material impact to the business
    • An understanding of modern software development tools and techniques, such as modular architecture, DevOps, CI/CD, and security best practices
    • Track record of hiring, developing, mentoring, and retaining highly effective engineering teams
    • A history of working effectively in a team-based organization, collaborating cross-functionally and building support and alignment around goals and objectives
    • Demonstrated track record of implementing enhanced product development processes that shorten release cycles and improve "time to market" for new products
