National Grid is hiring a Senior Engineer for our NE Gas Engineering Design department in Waltham, MA.

Job Purpose
Gas Engineering Design is responsible for the design of standard and complex gas projects allowing for the safe and reliable delivery of natural gas to customers. Distribution specifically supports the design of main and service replacement, public works, reliability and growth. The senior engineer position is within a progression to develop into a technical subject matter expert for natural gas system design.

Key Accountabilities
Position Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

  • Develop unique engineering designs for standard and complex engineering projects
  • Work collaboratively with outside consulting firms and internal stakeholders
  • Prioritize work and manage multiple projects within budget and time constraints
  • Assess project scopes and identify required variances prior to design to ensure a complete, high quality and safe project outcome
  • Implement change control procedures as necessary to track design changes instituted by engineering or field operations and identify any associated risks that may result; document any requests to deviate from approved/agreed to parameters and seek authorization where required
  • Utilize work management applications such as SAP, Maximo and Power Plant

    Qualifications
    • ABET accredited Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering discipline required
    • 4+ years of experience in an engineering role required
    • 4+ years of AutoCAD experience required
    • EIT or PE certification preferred
    • Valid driver's license required

      Please be advised that due to the nature of this position, incumbents are subject to federal Drug & Alcohol safety regulations governing US Department of Transportation ("DOT") covered positions, including the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) and Pipeline Hazardous Material Safety Administration (PHMSA). As such, the Company's testing programs and policies regarding the use of federally prohibited drugs or alcohol, for recreational or medical purposes, will remain in effect for these safety-sensitive, DOT covered positions.
