Job Description:

An employer is seeking an OpenShift or Rancher / Kubernetes Platform Engineer to sit 100% remote for one of our top clients in the defense space who is building out a new Container-as-a-Service (CaaS) organization. This team serves to support both classified and unclassified environments and will be responsible for maintaining the OpenShift and Rancher platforms and work closely with the software development organization. We are looking for an individual with OpenShift or Rancher and Kubernetes experience who can maintain the health and operations of the platform, as they will be responsible for the health of the platform itself. They will be responsible for monitoring, capacity planning, supporting OpenShift and Rancher within VMWare and cloud environments. He or she must be able to set up a Kubernetes cluster from scratch and make decisions on what hardware to install within OpenShift and Rancher on and how to properly manage containers in the environment. This individual will also need to have automation experience with Ansible or Terraform in order to deploy patching to the platform itself. This individual will need to be able to understand how to orchestrate containers, how to bring it onto the platform and how to monitor it. This individual will not be building out containers -- there is a separate Software Factory that will be responsible for building out the software containers and building pipelines to OpenShift and Rancher. This individual should, however, understand this process, and be comfortable giving direction / making decisions on the platform.

Minimum Requirements
- 5+ years of experience within a DevOps environment as a systems administrator
- 1+ years specializing in Kubernetes, specifically OpenShift or Rancher
- Expertise in supporting OpenShift or Rancher as a Platform Engineer
- Experience setting up and configuring Kubernetes clusters from scratch
- Experience configuring day two features and capabilities within Kubernetes clusters
- Experience with Linux OS and virtualization (as a system admin)
- US Citizen, ability to obtain a clearance

Desired Skills
- Automation experience with python and terraform
