Janssen Research & Development, LLC is part of the Janssen Pharmaceutical Companies. As an Associate Engineering Scientist II in the Oncology Therapeutic Area at Janssen, you will join the Bladder Disease Area Stronghold team to develop innovative drug-device combination products for the treatment of bladder cancer. The research will be focused on the development of controlled release devices using highly potent, small molecule drug substances in support of long-acting therapies. The candidate will be responsible for planning and conducting moderately complex experiments, including results analyses and interpretation of the product's performance. Attention to detail will include generating detailed experimental records and creating accurate, complete reports. The candidate will provide solutions to problems of moderate complexity and will exercise judgment within standard policies and procedures to determine appropriate action. Documentation to assist with the preparation of technical manuscripts and other data-based documents will be necessary. The candidate will also prepare scientific drawings, diagrams and present data at in-house meetings. Participation in the direction of experiments through the development of methodologies and implementing moderately complex principles for designing experimental approaches will be a core set of activities. Primary responsibilities (include, but are not limited to):

  • Responsible for the technical progress of one or more aspects of a development project, including scheduling and conducting front line work and reporting progress to project leader
  • Conduct lab scale experiments to support formulation, device, and combination product development
  • Present results within internal project team meetings as part of a cross functional organization
  • Prepare technical reports that may serve as source documents for regulatory submission and/or inspection
  • Contribute to development and assessment of potential manufacturing processes
  • Support development and nonclinical activities through manufacture of investigational product
  • Develop test protocols and procedures to characterize functional performance
  • Propose novel and actionable ideas, aligned with internal scientific strategy and capabilities
  • Strong organizational skills including the ability to manage several experiments/projects simultaneously
  • Detail-oriented, with excellent record-keeping skills
  • Ability to analyze and present data in a professional format
  • Clear and professional verbal and written communication
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively with people, across cultures and functions
