WHY VEIR?
Giving everyone in the world access to clean, reliable, affordable
energy will require substantial expansion of global electricity
transmission networks. VEIR is developing a new generation of High
Temperature Superconductor (HTS)-based transmission lines, enabling
long distance, reliable, low loss, cost-effective power transfer in
far smaller right-of-ways. VEIR's innovations overcome the main
barriers to transmission expansion, enabling the world to access
the very lowest cost renewable power. THE ROLE:
As the VP of Engineering at VEIR, you will play a pivotal
leadership role in driving the company's engineering initiatives
and ensuring the successful development and deployment of its
HTS-based transmission lines. Reporting directly to the CEO, you
will be responsible for overseeing and managing the LN (Liquid
Nitrogen) Infrastructure, Heat Transfer, and Superconducting
Systems departments.

- Develop and execute a comprehensive engineering strategy
aligned with VEIR's overall business objectives, ensuring efficient
utilization of resources and effective collaboration between
different engineering teams.
- Provide strong technical leadership and guidance to the LN
Infrastructure, Heat Transfer, and Superconducting Systems
departments, fostering a culture of innovation, excellence, and
continuous improvement.
- Recruit, mentor, and manage a high-performing engineering team,
promoting a collaborative and inclusive work environment. Set clear
goals and expectations, provide regular feedback and performance
evaluations, and support the professional growth of team
members.
- Oversee the planning, execution, and timely delivery of
engineering projects, ensuring adherence to quality standards,
cost-effectiveness, and regulatory compliance.
- Collaborate closely with other functional departments,
including Research and Development, Manufacturing, and Business
Development, to drive cross-functional alignment and ensure
seamless integration of engineering efforts.
- Stay abreast of the latest advancements in HTS technology and
related fields, evaluate their potential application in VEIR's
products, and drive the development of new technologies and
methodologies to enhance product performance and
competitiveness.
- Identify and mitigate engineering risks and challenges,
proactively addressing any issues that may impact project
timelines, quality, or cost.Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical
Engineering, or a related field is required.
- Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in engineering
roles, and at least 5 years of experience in a senior leadership
position overseeing complex engineering projects and teams.
- Strong technical knowledge and understanding of
high-temperature superconductors, power transmission systems, heat
transfer, cryogenics, process equipment, or related engineering
disciplines.
- Proven track record of successfully leading and managing
multidisciplinary engineering teams, driving high-performance
cultures, delivering results in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
demonstrated by the ability to develop and execute engineering
strategies that align with business objectives and drive
innovation, efficiency, and market competitiveness.
- Proficiency in project management methodologies and tools, with
a strong ability to plan, execute, and monitor engineering
projects, ensuring on-time delivery and compliance with quality
standards.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the
ability to effectively communicate complex technical concepts to
both technical, non-technical, executive and board member
stakeholders.
- Strong collaboration and relationship-building skills to foster
cross-functional teamwork and alignment.
- Passion for working in a startup environment with a high level
of comfort navigating ambiguity, adapting to change, and taking
calculated risks.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed to
support engineering projects and business development
efforts.Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in the power transmission industry or related fields
is highly desirable.
- A Master's degree or Ph.D. in a relevant discipline is
preferred.
- Familiarity with relevant industry regulations, standards, and
compliance requirements related to power transmission systems and
infrastructure.
