The Radar Mechanical Design Department leads mechanical design,
development, and integration of some of the most innovative
land-based and shipboard radars in the world. This includes phased
array radar systems, electronic modules, pedestals, and power and
cooling systems. The department comprises individuals with
technical expertise and experience in hardware design, integration,
and production support. Raytheon is hiring a Senior Mechanical
Engineer to support our radar development programs. You will be
responsible for working with mechanical teams in all phases of our
design cycles, from concept development through design,
development, building and test. Key requirements for this position
include proven problem-solving skills and experience in hardware
design and integration, engineering analysis, and mechanical
drawing creation with military hardware. Individuals will interface
and collaborate primarily with other engineering disciplines, as
well as operations, systems, quality and program offices.
This Senior Mechanical Engineer is an on-site role in
Marlborough, MA or Tewksbury, MA.
What You Will Do
- Utilizing mechanical hardware design experience and knowledge
with ruggedized structures, interconnects, cooling, RF and
electronics packaging.
- Develop technical solutions to a wide range of complex problems
related to the entire product life cycle including proposal,
design, manufacture, integration and test of phase array
radars/electronics for multiple military programs.
- Employ transition-to-production practices with the ability to
lead a design release into production.
- Work with limited supervision and meet commitments for assigned
schedule, financial, and technical goals with ability to make
enhancements and leverage in daily work.
- Provide technical conscience, challenged with making sure the
product and process meet appropriate standards and requirements
while helping to remove roadblocks.
- Perform tolerance analyses to ensure form, fit, and function
are as intended by design for the use-application.
- Interact frequently with senior personnel on technical matters
often requiring coordination between organizations.
Qualifications You Must Have
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering
or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant
experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3
years experience.
- Experience with design of radar architecture, structures,
cooling or electronics packaging for military or aerospace or
commercial applications.
- Experience with ANSI/ASME Y14.5 GD&T.
Qualifications We Prefer
- Mechanical background with high technical aptitude.
- Experience with ANSI drawing standards and technical data
package creation.
- Experience with designing for military, ruggedized or
commercial standards.
- Experience in leading small development efforts and teams.
- Experience with CREO (Pro/E) or similar 3D solid modeling
software.
- Cognizant of machine suppliers' capabilities or have direct
experience in manufacturing and assembly support role for
producibility.
- Leadership skills and project management.
- Experience in selection of materials for structural, thermal,
mechanical, electrical, producibility, and environmental
considerations including corrosion mitigation and prevention.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel,
PowerPoint).
- Excellent verbal and written communications and interpersonal
skills when working with teams.

The salary range for this role is 86,800 USD - 165,200 USD. The
salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of
all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending
an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and

location, education/training, and key skills.Hired applicants may
be eligible for benefits, including but not limited to, medical,
