Job Description:

The Associate Director, Market Access Strategy and Planning will have responsibilities spanning Market Access Strategy, Operations and Field Excellence. The individual shall serve as the Market Access Lead of the cross-functional ACCESS team, the goal of which is to identify and resolve access challenges. The Associate Director will demonstrate ongoing leadership across the organization by profiling the payer landscape and developing strategies and tactics to achieve market access goals. They will act as a strategic partner to the HQ and Field team by delivering value through insight generation, building capabilities and tools, and effective project management. This individual will be the central point of contact with customer-facing directors and leadership stakeholders, tracking and communicating KPI performance, MBO advancement, launch readiness plans, and special project status updates.

Responsibilities:

Access Strategy

* Serve as Access Lead on the internal, cross-functional ACCESS team; facilitate and support the development of payer-specific Market Access strategies

* Manage agendas and lead ACCESS meetings * Own escalation tracking, coordination and communication of resolutions * Track payer-specific plans-of-action in response to access escalations and access landscape risks, ensure awareness and cross-functional alignment of plans across the ACCESS stakeholder teams * Lead cross-functional payer risk mapping assessments

* Collect, digest and summarize key access-related issues and trends to team and leadership * Assess the current and future impact of government policy and legislation on patient access to Vertex current and potential future medicines * Contribute to existing and pipeline market access strategies, providing integrated analyses, customer and industry insights, and plan or account performance metrics * Evaluate the impact of payer policies on the patient experience and access to Vertex medicines * Conduct analytics and provide recommendations in response to ad hoc access-related inquiries from leadership * Partner with Training to support and drive market access training efforts across the Commercial team

Field Operations

* Contribute to the development of tools and reports to track customer-specific critical success factors, strategic imperatives, key tactical programs, performance metrics and KPIs * Own the development and maintenance of account dashboards to support field insight into trends and performance of specific customers, inform targeted account planning and prioritization * Leverage internal and external data and understanding of access landscape to author reports and dashboards and consolidate insights to inform, update and track relevant access topics for field and HQ stakeholders * Serve as the subject matter expert for resolving field reporting and data inquiry issues * Proactively identify gaps in data and tools supporting the field teams and recommend solutions. * Coordinate live trainings and build complimentary training documents to ensure optimal use of tools * Collaborate with customer-facing colleagues to enhance customer engagement initiatives, systems, and processes, which include field force effectiveness analysis, personnel development, and the creation of work plans * Identify and lead the effort to refine and establish processes to ensure seamless execution of market access business operations * Ensure business priorities, objectives and strategy are incorporated into field strategy, training and execution models * Monitor industry contracting strategies and the potential impact to our medicines access to inform internal contracting strategy * Design and develop business planning tools, templates and practices for seamless execution across the Managed Markets team * Establish strong relationships with vendors and manage contracts, within budget, related to Market Access data, access tools, and subscriptions

Qualifications:

* Bachelors Degree * 5 years relevant experience in life sciences organization or healthcare industry

* 3 years experience in market access/managed care or patient services and 2 years experience in a leadership role * 2 years experience in a customer-facing role preferred * Knowledge of US payer coverage and reimbursement environment

* Demonstrated ability to interpret and analyze complex data to translate insights into strategy * Outstanding oral and written communication skills

* Proven track record of success with strong results and excellent customer relationship skills

* Understanding of the pharmaceutical regulatory environment * Excellent interpersonal, communication, organizational and facilitation skills preferred * Able to perform in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple priorities simultaneously, and communicate complex information clearly preferred * Experience with Commercial review process for resource development and utilization preferred * Independent worker with demonstrated troubleshooting and problem-solving skills preferred * Launch experience, preferably in a rare disease market preferred
