Moderna is looking for a Sr. Director Cost Accounting to further build, lead and coach a high functioning Cost Accounting team. In this position you will own and co-ordinate worldwide product COGS and inventory financial reporting and processes across the company. This is a highly visible role in our organization, working closely with the VP Finance CMC and with frequent exposure to the Finance and CMC Leadership Teams. Here's What You'll Do: Moderna is looking for a Senior Director who will be responsible for our Global Cost accounting/reporting policies and processes. The Senior Director will serve as a thought leader and guide relating to the implementation of best practices for SAP applications relating to Cost and Inventory accounting. This role will be responsible for the immediate rapid scale up of our financial processes to support COGS accounting and reporting for the COVID vaccine in a manner that supports future platform commercialization and growth

• Reviews and approves the current year standard COGS rates for Clinical and Commercial products. Is a subject matter expert on methodology for the application of direct and indirect labor hours, machine hours and other variance drivers. Supports forecasting/budgeting efforts for COGS including cost hierarchy and setup
• Responsible for executing and overseeing all related journal entries, reconciliations, for Cost of Goods and inventory accounting/reporting.-- Provide guidance and direction for non-recurring one-off transactions as needed. --Support internal controls, management reporting, variance /flux reporting
• Responsible to ensure appropriate recording and reconciliation of CMO contracts and reporting in strong collaboration with the supply chain team
• Financial oversight for quarterly /annual physical inventories and cycle counts.
• Responsible for Excess and Obsolescence evaluation and reserves.
• Responsible for final sign off for methodologies used in partner billing, SOW creation.
• Lead a team of cost accounting professionals and be a subject matter expert/coach for GMP/Tox batch costing Here's What You'll Bring to the Table:
  • 15-20 years of experience in a finance/accounting department, public accounting firm or the equivalent combination of education and experience. Bachelors degree required.
  • 5 years of direct /hands on cost accounting experience
  • Proficient in the use of SAP or similar ERP systems.--
  • Has experience in a global manufacturing/cost accounting setup
  • Has successfully led cross functional efforts for product launches and process setup.--
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to form effective relationship throughout the organization and communicate complex analytical models/ financial concepts in a synthesized and concise manner
