          ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
          To support the vision, mission and guiding principles of Authentic Life Church by leading all components of communications and marketing. This role will be responsible to help the church see and celebrate what God is doing, to study and reach our target audience making people feel invited and welcome, to educate staff members on best practices to communicate with their departments both in person and online, to bring awareness of all that is happening at ALC, and provide people with points of connection to the church throughout the week. Care about the creativity and communications more than anyone else on our staff! This position supports the mission of bringing Jesus to a lost world and to help make Him famous!
          REPORTS TO:
          Executive Pastor of Worship and Communications
          QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
          --- Must be a committed follower of Jesus Christ, demonstrating Christian maturity and a deep and prayerful dependence upon God
          --- Preferred: Management or 5 years of related management experience to include marketing, communications, event coordination and budgets
          --- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
          --- Demonstrable competency in using or understanding the following software: Microsoft Office, Final Cut Pro or Adobe Premiere, Photoshop, In-Design, Illustrator, ProPresenter, Mac and PC Operating Systems
          --- Successful goal setting, follow-up, and achievement skills
          --- Ability to focus and specialize on specific tasks
          --- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists

          PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
          1. Storytelling
          --- The essential role of this position is to design and implement a strategy to tell stories of life transformation that have occurred within ALC
          o Build and manage a team that is focused on developing creative measures to find stories of life change
          o This team would use various mediums (photography, video, art pieces, etc.) to communicate these stories to the church and to the world
          o Share stories in announcements, social media, etc.

          --- Strategically plan and manage a variety of projects to tell the stories of God's faithfulness at work at Authentic Life Church.
          o Standardize messaging across all platforms: online, print, and in person
          o Bridge the online to offline gap between all ministry initiatives
          o Establish communication plans for sensitive issues like crisis communications, staff changes, or deaths
          o Educate pastoral staff members on communication or marketing issues and processes related to their church
          o Be the person who is always asking, "How can we make this experience better for someone who has never been to church?"

          2. Website
          --- Manage all aspects of ALC related websites
          o Content Management - Timely, current, appropriate
          o Efficient and effective functionality
          o Artistic and creative excellence
          --- Lead all efforts related to the creation and development of all websites
          o May work with development companies
          o May create and develop sites internally
          --- Proactively work to make sure ALC maintains an effective presence on the web including style/presence, search engines, new technology

          3. Promotions/Marketing
          --- Develop system to organize, prioritize and communicate promotional items related to ALC
          --- Create communication strategies to market, inform, and promote teaching series, big events, and other campaigns that are assigned
          --- Create marketing campaigns to attract more people to services and events
          --- Study the audiences the church is trying to reach, and use that knowledge to recommend and implement outreach strategies
          --- Oversee all written materials related to promotion
          o May require writing or securing writers
          o Editing and proof-reading for accuracy and appropriateness
          --- Google Ads
          --- Etc.

          4. Social Media
          --- Create, manage, and develop social media presence for ALC including but not limited to Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Next Door, Google, YouTube, etc.
          --- Develop advertising strategy for social media outlets
          --- Creatively build followings on the different social media outlets

          5. Design
          --- Lead efforts to design all art and promotional materials related to church-wide activities with a high standard of creativity, excellence, and effectiveness
          --- Work with paid and volunteer graphic artists to develop graphic designs

          6. Video
          --- Develop and manage the ALC video team to produce creative and effective promotional videos: concept, scripting, video shoots, editing, post production
          --- Strategize creative tactics to use video to promote and send the message ALC would like to communicate to the church and the world.

          7. Brand Management
          --- Create branding and style guidelines & create messages in keeping with them
          o Monitor the look, vibe, and feel of all promotional materials representing ALC
          o Manage the use of logos and images representing ALC
          o Create policies and procedures related to the branding of ALC and related entities
          --- Help with design around the church facility to bring brand and purpose awareness

          8. Media Relations
          --- Create positive relationships with the local media
          --- Oversee efforts related to securing or responding to media attention
          --- Develop policies and procedures related to media relations

          9. Worship Arts
          --- Work in tandem with the Worship Arts Team to create consistency in messaging from the parking lot to the sanctuary
          --- Develop creative ways to communicate the desired message to the worship audience
          --- Join brainstorming and creative sessions

          10. Sunday Prep and Media
          --- ProPresenter presentations:
          o Build and oversee team of lyric presenters
          o Prepare media sermon notes
          o Slides for worship
          --- Film and direct the Online Host video
          --- Oversee the writing and direction of our weekly announcements script

          11. Set Design (4 per year)
          --- Design 4 sets per year (Fall Campaign, Christmas, Easter, Other)
          --- Build and oversee a team of volunteers
          --- Build, install, and take down set

          12. Volunteer Teams
          --- Lead and develop volunteer teams of creatives and marketers
          --- Recruit, train, and care for volunteers such as artists, designers, photographers, and writers

          13. Guest and Church Relations
          --- Work with First Impressions Coordinator to create and implement a system for following up with first-time guests (particularly design aspects)
          --- Communicate with the community regarding services the church offers
          --- Keep church members informed of official business, including services, meetings, building or staff changes, and outreach initiatives
          --- Help the church see and celebrate the work God is doing
          --- Provide people with points of connection to the church throughout the week

          EMPLOYEE UNDERSTANDING
          --- The position of Director of Communications is a full time exempt position. Employee must maintain regular and predictable attendance and be able to work occasional non-scheduled times.
          --- Employment with Authentic Life Church is "at will" and employment may be terminated at any time with or without cause or notice.
          --- Reviews are given according to the current policy and procedures manual.
