Job Description:

The Possible Project (TPP) is a multi-year, youth entrepreneurship program offering students exciting project-based experiences:

  • the creation and running of student-directed, passion-based ventures--
  • hands-on experiences within TPP Social Enterprises
  • work-based learning opportunities through internships and fellowships
  • learning about and use of high-technology maker equipment, such as laser cutters, 3-D printers and clothing printers/presses
  • personalized college and/or career advising Throughout their TPP journey, students work with dedicated educators, advisors, peers, and field experts; earn stipends; design products and services in a state-of-the-art makerspace; attend pitch panels and marketplaces; build and apply essential skills, mindsets, and social capital; and explore the exciting opportunities that exist post-high school. Students have fun learning, growing and interacting with peers as they design their futures. TPP is in its second decade of operations, having served nearly 1000 students in the greater Boston area. The organization employs 30+ professionals with plans to grow significantly in Boston over the next 4 years, as well as other cities beyond 2025. Currently in an expansion mode, TPP plans to open a 35,000 sq ft Boston Innovation Center serving 1000 students a year, launching in September 2021.-- About the Role:-- The Possible Project is expanding guided by an organization-wide strategic plan and is building capacity to be a best in class organization and employer of choice. The Senior Director of Talent is a new role that will partner with the Chief Talent Officer to design and lead the organization's talent strategy that will evolve and drive a culture that keeps our students at the core. The Senior Director of Talent will oversee key functions of the Human Resources (Talent) Department and provide strategic direction and partnership that align with the organization's strategic plan, and support the continued expansion and impact of the organization. This is a hands-on, roll up your sleeves role that requires creativity and agility to design, build and operationalize strategy. The Senior Director of Talent will guide and lead organizational policies and practices that provide an employee oriented, innovative and high-performance culture that emphasizes empowerment, learning and collaboration. As a member of the leadership team in a student-focused organization, it is critical that the person in this role believes in the potential of all young people to achieve their highest aspirations and has a passion for providing them with the tools and opportunities to do so. While The Possible Project is student-focused and results-oriented, our people are our most important resource. The Senior Director of Talent will partner with the Chief Talent Officer and the senior leadership team to design and implement human resource strategies that provide significant and measurable impact on the organization as it grows including:-- Human Resources Planning and Strategic Business Partnership
    • Co-design, develop and execute HR/Talent strategies, policies and processes that align to and support the overall business strategy and drive execution of a best in class culture of achievement, continuous learning [and development], and collaboration--
    • In partnership with the Finance Team and CTO, manage HR/Talent budgets, review and negotiate appropriate HR related contracts
    • Manage relationship with select third party HR services vendors and make recommendations for enhancement as needed/appropriate
    • Acts as a change ambassador within the organization Talent Management and Total Rewards
      • Manage benefits administration and annual benefits review/design sessions, optimizing coverage at the best value for the employee and company
      • Support and implement total rewards strategy (compensation, benefits, etc) Organizational Development/Design
        • Lead key organizational developmental efforts to achieve business goals
        • Develop and administer performance management and succession management tools and processes
        • Identify training needs and be able to effectively design/deliver--
        • Co-design and implement tools and processes that demonstrate TPPs core values, core competencies, and commitment to Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI)--
        • Manage employee communications and change management activities
        • Be a culture driver and champion that models our core values, competencies and commitment to DEI-- Diversity, Equity & Inclusion
          • Support TPP's Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) strategy and execution--
          • Ensure that TPP's HR practices and organizational strategies reflect our DEI values-- Compliance--
            • Advise management regarding employment laws and policies that affect HR operations
            • Provide employee relations services and coaching to employees, managers, and students
            • Annually assesses org policy handbook; modifies as needed.
            • Ensure policies align with org culture, best practice, and legal guidelines.
            • Demonstrates understanding of Human Resources Policies/Employment law and regulations and applies appropriately.
            • Ensures compliance with all federal, state and local labor, employment and benefits rules and regulations. Ideal Candidate Has:
              • BA or equivalent work experience including 7+ years of Human Resources and leadership experience - both for profit and nonprofit experience welcome--
              • Demonstrated experience and effectiveness in organizational design and development
              • Experience in all facets of Human Resources (compensation, benefits, talent management and acquisition, HRIS, performance management, employment regulations, policy and process development)
              • Proven experience coaching and mentoring staff at all levels of the organization
              • Experience building and supporting a learning culture including leading employee development programs
              • Demonstrated business acumen and organizational savvy
              • Excellent written and verbal communication, design and presentation skills
