About the Opportunity
Mass Audubon is entering an era of bold and urgent action and is
seeking a strategic, innovative leader as its next Vice President
of Marketing & Communications (VPMC) to lead the communications and
marketing strategies that will help Mass Audubon meet its ambitious
goals, while elevating the visibility and influence of the
organization. Our signals a dynamic new era for the organization.
Reporting to the President, the VPMC will serve as a strategic
advisor on marketing, communications, brand reputation, and media
management to the CEO of the organization, which serves 140,000
members and 104 wildlife sanctuaries across Massachusetts.
The Vice President of Marketing & Communications has an opportunity
to strategize and execute bold, innovative communications and
marketing strategies that mobilize our members to action and build
cohesion among internal marketing and communications teams. The
VPMC will build campaigns that introduce Mass Audubon to new
audiences as it seeks to provide inclusive and equitable access to
nature. The VPMC will also provide functional leadership to the
marketing team, stewarding a culture of collaboration and
innovation.
Areas of Leadership
Executive Leadership: Serve as a peer, strategist, and thought
partner on the executive team and liaison to the board
marketing/communications committee. Partner with other executive
leaders and teams to drive the marketing and communication
strategies that will contribute to the fulfillment of Mass Audubons
Action Agenda and goals, and raise visibility for key
organizational priorities. Set the vision and strategy for the
role, goals, and metrics for the marketing and communications
function. Advance Mass Audubons commitment to diversifying its
staff and membership base and build an inclusive culture that
connects all people to nature.
Strategic Communications & Marketing: Expand and diversify the
audiences Mass Audubon is reaching. Build cohesion of marketing and
communications across regions/departments to amplify the Mass
Audubon story/brand across the state, and maximize awareness of,
and engagement with, our sanctuaries and programs. Manage the brand
integrity of Mass Audubon across the organization. Strengthen the
use of digital communication strategies and other new media efforts
to maximize engagement.
Marketing Team Leadership: Continue to build upon and develop a
strong marketing and communications team. Leverage direct and
dotted-line management to advance cohesion of marketing images,
messaging, and initiatives across all Mass Audubon regions and
programs. Lead development of tools, systems, and processes to
build out the marketing and communications infrastructure to
support a shared services and regional model. Steward a culture of
innovation.
Salary, Location & Benefits
The salary range for this role is $175,000 - $200,000, based on
experience. This is a full-time, exempt role based in Lincoln, MA.
