Strategic Alliances - ( 3194169 ) Description The Mass General
Research Institute (MGRI) is a strategic initiative designed to
provide the resources and infrastructure needed to more effectively
promote Mass General research externally, better support Mass
General investigators internally, and help guideMass General
research to foster large-scale, team-based efforts. The MGRI core
mission is to sustain and grow the Mass General research enterprise
into the next decade by establishing a new funding model that will
augment federal sources with significant industrial and
philanthropic support. To this end, the development of new and
productive strategic alliances with industry is crucial. In the
Office of the Scientific Director we are working to promote Mass
General research and our investigators by helping to translate
discoveries to clinical practice through robust collaborations with
industry. We are also focused on training a new generation of our
biomedical scientists to solve important problems in health care
together with industry partners. The Research Alliance liaison will
assist the MGRI Scientific Director and the Director for Strategic
Alliances in advancing the strategic alliances priorities for the
MGRI. He/she will be responsible for the day-to-day management of
all activities in relation to the Research Institute Advisory
Council (RIAC) members involved with the Strategic Alliances (SA)
initiative, cross disciplinary challenge-driven programs, the Mass
General research portfolio development and review, will be the
liaison responsible for communicating with all relevant
constituencies of the MGB Innovation Office, and will contribute
significantly to the development and mentorship in the Bridging
Academia and Industry training course. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND
RESPONSIBILITIES: - The Research Alliance liaison will manage
strategic alliance operations such as:
- Organize and document meetings and projects dedicated to the
following:
- Research portfolio brainstorming and development
- Challenge-driven programs
- Support of the research community
- Internal and external stakeholders
- Training course and other educational opportunities
Responsibilities for all meeting types will include creating
agendas, managing invitation and attendance, documenting decisions
and creating and executing follow-up action plans.
- -Work closely with investigators, market sector leaders,
licensing managers at the Mass General Brigham (MGB) Innovation
office to facilitate structuring and writing programmatic research
programs, development plans, proposals and progress reports.
- Communicate with the MGB Innovation Office to gather relevant
information and facilitate processing of invention disclosures,
patent applications, confidentiality agreements, sponsored research
and licensing agreements.
- Assist in developing all materials for the RIAC members
involved with the Strategic Alliances Initiative, MGB Innovation
Office e.g., brochure for non-specialists, and executive summaries
for large-scale programs or specific projects. Update
regularly.
- Organize and document regular meetings with appropriate
stakeholders including Innovation office and MGRI leadership
team.
- Work with the MGRI marketing team to develop appropriate
collateral and videos for translational research audience (internal
and external audiences including industry and ventures) and for the
educational program.
- Help to coordinate and manage the timeline and development of
the educational program. Organize some aspects of the courses,
including manage marketing the program to appropriate audiences,
working closely with the SA team to manage faculty and sit on
project competition teams as assigned. -
- Communicate and manage relationships with external consultants,
collaborators, advisors.
- Support the research community by supporting departmental and
hospital-wide initiatives -and responding to requests regarding
Mass General's research portfolio. Facilitate and coordinate MGB
Innovation programs at Mass General. Help introduce the SA
initiative to internal groups and external academic/non-profit
institutions in the Boston area. Help to connect MGRI with
international academic institutions to discuss potential mechanisms
of collaboration such as fellowship and training programs. Host
meetings and conference calls with companies interested in working
with Mass General investigators and streamline introductions where
appropriate.
- Participate/assist in translational sciences manuscript
preparation and writing for publication in scientific journals
and/or presentations. May also assist in grant writing and other
funding opportunities.
- May attend conferences and seminars. Qualifications
SKILLS/ABILITIES/COMPETENCIES REQUIRED: -
- Excellent communication skills required, both written and
verbal.
- Must be able to work as part of a team and effectively
communicate with the scientific community.
- Ability to make independent effective decisions.
- Strong organizational skills and experience managing a
multi-faceted program essential.
- Strong database management and overall computer skills.
Competency with MS Office Suite is required.
- Demonstrated analytical skills to problem solve
effectively.
- Ability to process and handle confidential information with
discretion.
- Excellent judgment and ability to interpret information and
protocol requirements. EDUCATION: Minimum B.A. or B.S. required,
advanced degree preferred. PhD in a scientific field or MD strongly
preferred. EXPERIENCE: - 2 years of related experience required.
Project Management experience preferred. Knowledge regarding
assessment of clinical and intellectual property potential in a
