MMP is a statewide organization that partners with corporate, public, and philanthropic entities to drive critical resources to a network of more than 370 mentoring and youth-serving organizations, impacting more than 50,000 young people throughout the Commonwealth. -

Our organization offers competitive salaries and excellent benefits within the nonprofit sector. -Position Summary:MMP is seeking a talented and dynamic professional to join our team as a Manager of Community Engagement to develop direct relationships and sustained partnerships with key community stakeholders and carry out MMP's mission- specifically in our focus -areas in Eastern Massachusetts, with a primary focus on Boston and Lawrence and develop are upcoming focus areas along with our team.
As MMP's regional presence and primary spokesperson in these communities, the Manager of Community Engagement will be a locally-based knowledgeable voice for the field of youth development and mentoring, mobilizing internal and external resources to meet the needs of youth serving -programs and grow the field. The Manager of Community Engagement should come with strong knowledge of the community. -The Manager of Community Engagement will be the resource broker and conduit between these regions and MMP's full suite of services to mentoring and youth serving programs, and they will build key strategic relationships within the region's youth development field including youth mentoring and youth serving programs, community and business leadership, and local government. - -
The Manager of Community Engagement represents and promotes the work of all the departments of MMP. -This position will spend the time to assess community and program strengths and needs, creating collaborations and linking communities to the work of our logic model including the work of building capacity through providing training and technical assistance services; supporting systems change in the areas of education, juvenile justice and the workforce and building public will and legislative support. -The ultimate task of this role is to make the statewide mission of MMP concrete and local in our identified focu areas. -The Manager of Community Engagement works within the "big picture" framework of MMP and has access to MMP teams of experts to carry out fully planned projects collectively. -The primary focus is to build relationships and leverage resources to increase the quality and quantity of mentoring relationships and serve as a value add, a connector and convener and bring and lift up experience and -research and to the field. -This position is hybrid at this time and is based in MMP's Boston office with travel and direct face to face time in above mentioned communities for 70% of their work week. -
Reporting to MMP's SVP/Chief Program Officer, the Manager of Community Engagement will work with the full support of MMP staff, assuring that initiatives in these focused areas are fully integrated into the organization's strategic goals and annual operating plan. -
Program Capacity-building

  • Develop strong relationships with mentoring programs and youth serving agencies in focus areas
  • Serve as an initial resource and as a resource broker to MMP colleagues to meet the training, consultation and capacity building needs of focus communities
  • Identify training needs and deliver / conduct /or facilitate initial trainings and consultation service on programmatic topics -
  • Create and facilitate opportunities for youth serving programs to network
  • Carry a portfolio of programs to support and navigate through the funnel of MMP services as well as serve as grant manager
    Key Responsibilities: -Partnership Development and Public Awareness:
    • Participate in community task forces, collaborations and representing MMP and the work we do and our mission,
    • Identify new and support on-going strategic partnerships with various stakeholders including, community and business leaders, higher education institutions, and affinity groups to broker access and opportunities for mentoring programs to promote mentoring relationships
    • Plan and implement regional events that raise the profile of mentoring -and empowering youth adult relationships in the regions -
    • Identify new and support on-going strategic partnerships with media, community and business leaders to position mentoring as a preventative strategy central to youth violence prevention, educational achievement, and workforce development
      Field Resources and Development -
      • Help identify groups to participate in fundraising activities -
      • Working in collaboration with the Manager of Government Relations, support relationships with key policy makers in the region and work with mentoring programs to maximize their advocacy efforts -
      • Working in collaboration with the Director of Development, develop relationships with and cultivate prospective donors and funders in focus areas that yield field resources and funding opportunities for MMP
      • Steward current institutional funders and donors for MMP and the mentoring field
      • Identify partners and resources to access complimentary admissions, tickets, and activity passes for distribution to mentoring programs -
        Other Responsibilities:
        • Promote the mission and goals of MMP and fully participate in setting and achieving the annual operating plan to achieve the goals
        • Participate in meetings, organizational functions, and community events necessary to perform job responsibilities and/or to represent MMP
        • Identify and participate in appropriate community meetings, task forces, and coalitions to improve youth services, in addition to finding opportunities to educate these groups
        • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance relevant knowledge and skill sets
        • Meet all requirements to utilize the MMP customer relationship database and other MMP reporting systems to track pertinent data -
        • Participate in creating a more culturally responsive environment at MMP
          Position Requirements:
          • BS or BA and at least 3-5 years relevant experience required or life experience that provides theoretical and practical experience to prepare for this position
          • Preference to candidate from or with strong connections in one of the following regions: Dorchester, Mattapan, and Roxbury, Lawrence or Brockton -
          • Solid background / experience in community organizing and relationship building
          • Background in youth development, mentoring, public health, or related field
          • Some experience providing training, public awareness opportunities and technical assistance with adult learners
          • Proven ability to manage projects, partnerships, and professional relationships
          • Ability to plan, organize and think strategically
          • Excellent communications skills
          • Ability to work and connect with diverse communities, people and partners, and a commitment to promoting inclusion in all practices and efforts
          • Capacity to learn quickly and multi task effectively
          • Self directed and entrepreneurial with ability to work independently -
          • Strong written and verbal communication and public presentation skills
          • Ability to work and communicate effectively in a team environment with colleagues, program providers, community stakeholders, and volunteers
          • Understanding the process to develop and respond to funding opportunities
          • Valid driver's license and ability to travel to programs across the state of Massachusetts -
          • Some night and occasional weekends work

            Salary Range: $65,000-$75,000 per year
