See our full statement on diversity here.ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITYWe are accepting applications for a Director of Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) to join the elementary school faculty for the 2022-2023 school year. This position is located at Match Community Day, our elementary school at 100 Poydras Street. The Director of SEL serves as a member of the school leadership team and reports to the Elementary School Principal.The Director of SEL shall provide leadership and direction in support of continued social emotional and mental health development for students at Match Community Day School (MCD). As part of a Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS), this work entails strong core (Tier I) instruction, supplementary (Tier II) resources, and individualized (Tier III) plans. The Director will maintain current knowledge of relevant legislation and best practices, and will oversee the development, implementation, and evaluation of a comprehensive approach to supporting ongoing social emotional and mental health development of students at MCD, as well as the practices and social emotional and mental health literacy needed for adults. The Director of SEL should have a deep knowledge of effective research- based practices related to social emotional and mental health development such as Responsive Classroom, PBIS, Restorative Practices, CASEL, Restorative Justice, Trauma Informed Practice, Mental Health First Aid, Signs of Suicide, and Student Intervention Plans. He/she establishes and maintains positive, on-going relationships with all stakeholders at MCD, forges partnerships with other members of the Mental Health Team and works collaboratively with the principal and school team to facilitate practices that positively impact student learning.ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES This list is meant to be representative, not exhaustive. Some incumbents may not perform all the duties listed while in other cases related duties may also be assigned. Partner with Assistant Principal, instructional leaders, grade team leaders and teachers to ensure an integrated approach to addressing students' Behavioral, SEL, and Mental Health needs Coordinate with Principal to oversee mental health initiatives, including activities and interventions at all three levels of the tiered MTSS: facilitating student support team meetings managing attendance and interventions Mental Health Awareness Month Safe SSAWQ2pace in classrooms Universal SEL lessons (Distributed among all school social workers/counselors) Provide and monitor an on-going system of professional learning for all staff around SEL instruction and supports Carry a caseload of individual and social skills groups for students in IEPs Support referrals and resources for families who need more external support Consult around concerns related to abuse and or neglect Engage in parent meetings when needed to support families to feel connected to the school Monitor and maintain SEL trends to prioritize programming Serve as a liaison to the Sped department to oversee 504 plans Oversee Children Services of Roxbury, South End Community Health Center, YMCA partnership Be the point of contact for all community mental health providers and resources. Provide training for all staff members on SEL Devise a way to communicate student SEL progress on a regular ongoing basis Organize Secondary Parent/Teacher Conferences around SEL Coordinate with Principal and Student Support Team whenever a crisis team is needed Supervise Social Work Interns and manage partnerships with Social Work Graduate Schools Performs other tasks as directed by Principal QUALIFICATIONSResearch has shown that people of color and women are less likely to apply for jobs if they dont believe they meet every one of the qualifications described in a job description. Two or more years experience as a school-based social worker (strongly preferred); A master's degree in Social Work and license for independent practice in the state of Massachusetts (LICSW); Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to effectively facilitate groups and classroom interventions; Extensive case management and clinical assessment skills; Experience working on teams and the desire to work across multiple settings with behavioral health and non-mental health providers; belief that all students can and will succeed; and A desire to continually improve their practice as a school professional by taking and implementing feedback.
