The FMR LLC Legal Department is seeking to hire an attorney to join the Asset Management, Portfolio Investments Legal team supporting the regulatory and operational aspects of the asset management business of FMR s affiliates in Canada, UK, Hong Kong and Japan.\u00A0 In this role you will provide legal counsel to compliance and business partners overseeing all asset classes of investments being managed and/or traded out of Canada, UK, Hong Kong and Japan, including local regulations. You will oversee a team of lawyers in London and Hong Kong who provide day-to-day support for the investment management businesses in Europe and Asia, including legal advice related to local laws and regulations. You will also be responsible for advising our compliance partners on legal aspects related to Section 13 and Section 16 reporting and information\u00A0 barriers.
The Expertise We re Looking For

  • J.D with at least 12 years relevant experience as a practicing attorney, including advising on compliance with international laws and regulations.
  • Significant experience advising clients in the investment management industry.
  • Expertise providing legal advice to clients with respect to the Investment Advisers Act of 1940 is required.
  • Experience participating in corporate and legal governance processes and providing risk-management advice and counsel with respect to international advisers.
  • Familiarity with the 40 Act is desired.
  • Knowledge of and experience with advising clients on (i) the requirements of Section 13 and Section 16 of the 34 Act and (ii) compliance ownership limits.
  • Prior interaction with domestic and international regulators a plus.
  • Experience with managing and coaching a team of international attorneys responsible for contract negotiation, client support and advise relating to jurisdictional laws and regulations.
  • Knowledge of EU MiFID II, UK SMCR and HK MIC is desired.
  • Law firm or equivalent experience required; prior experience with an asset management firm is a plus.\u00A0The Skills You Bring

    • Ability to provide practical solutions grounded in law and based on a continuum of risks.
    • Ability to work as a team member in a team context; ability to build relationships with a range of lawyers and non-lawyers across the company.
    • Collaborative approach to solving novel legal issues that benefit Fidelity s clients.
    • Willingness to exercise independent judgment.
    • Highly organized, self-motivated and self-directed, but comfortable with reporting lines that at times require obtaining approvals and agreements from numerous constituents.
    • Ability to manage and motivate a skilled team of attorneys.
    • Strong communications and presentation skills, including the ability to communicate complex legal concepts clearly and efficiently to non-lawyers
    • Excellent writing and analytic skills, adaptive to and effective for different audiences.Certifications:
