Emmanuel College seeks an energetic and dynamic candidate to help us build a vibrant athletic culture at the DIII level. Reporting to the Chief Student Affairs Officer, the Director of Athletics provides overall leadership, supervision, and motivation to a successful NCAA Division-III intercollegiate athletic program, consisting of 16 varsity teams and is a member of the GNAC (Great Northeast Athletic Conference). An integral member of the Student Affairs leadership team, the Director will oversee our beautiful facilities both on campus and co-owned by the City of Boston (Clemente Field) where 16 GNAC Championships and Coaches of the Year honors have been secured over the past 10 years. Additional accolades include, GNAC Sports Information Team of the Year (2022), two GNAC Executive's of the Year, Coach inductions into the GNAC and New England Basketball Hall of Fame, Women's Basketball appearances at Sweet 16, Elite 8, and Final 4, and student GNAC Woman of the Year honorees. The Director will develop and implement annual department strategic initiatives consistent with the College mission, vision and strategic plan as well as develop new programs, increase roster sizes, and align staffing and resources to accommodate the growth of additional teams. In addition, the Director effectively creates successful plans and proposals for senior administration on behalf of Athletics which also reflect the Division of Student Affairs' mission and vision. An ability to collaborate with campus partners and foster intentional relationships within the City of Boston is instrumental to the success of this position. Demonstrated engagement and success in development/fund-raising strategies and efforts with alumni, student-athletes, and their families is essential. Highly effective written and oral communication skills with the ability to deliver information in a concise, and articulate manner to multiple stakeholder groups. Experience hosting major sports events and championships with an understanding of athletic training requirements and the efficient utilization of personnel is preferred. Other areas of responsibility will include but not be limited to; NCAA compliance, staff supervision and hiring, policy review, maintaining standards for student athlete academics and conduct, recruitment, facilities management, and student athlete health and welfare. Our ideal candidate will be a proven leader with experience, vision and energy to build a comprehensive athletic department. Applicants should at least five years of progressive managerial experience in intercollegiate athletics administration and a proven ability in decision-making, financial management and program development. A Master's degree is required and coaching experience is preferred. An ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a sense of humor is a must.
