For more information, please contact NEC Human Resources.JOB SUMMARY:The Associate Director assists the Director of Financial Planning and Analysis with financial modeling and data analysis relevant to institutional research. The Associate Director also manages financial functions essential to the operation of the College's academic program, including faculty contracts, payroll, and budget.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Data Analysis:


  • Utilize NEC systems to compile data and prepare reports/dashboards/analyses to support and inform decision-making. Maintain and provide user support for Power BI dashboards related to Business Office, Admissions, and the Prep School.
  • Collaborate with College department leaders to ensure mutual understanding of reports/data needed on regular basis
  • Prepare/update evaluation forms for semester evaluations of College courses, ensembles, studio, in conjunction with college academic administration. Review data for integrity of responses.
  • Collaborate with Registrar/Director of Institutional Research on annual reporting as needed (e.g., IPEDS)
  • Assist Dean of Academic Affairs and Administration with accreditation and other related reports, including those for NECHE, NC-SARA, and MA-SARA
    College Faculty Contracts/Payroll:

    • Manage the College faculty contracting process in collaboration with Provost and Dean of Academic Affairs and Administration. Prepare, produce, and distribute contracts.
    • Prepare hiring paperwork for College faculty and serve as liaison with Human Resources
    • Maintain and update College faculty model, including contract data, payroll worksheets, annual budget and forecast data, and departmental and other analyses
    • Prepare monthly faculty payroll, including adjustments and one-time payments, and communicate with Payroll office in timely manner. Collaborate with Human Resources on leave-related adjustments (e.g., short-term disability). Communicate payroll information to faculty and respond to inquiries.
    • Research, compile, and analyze faculty compensation data
    • Communicate with Registrar, Admissions staff, faculty, and academic/performance departments regarding any discrepancies in registrations as related to payroll
      College Budget Management:

      • Provide oversight for College budget departments (-50) and serve as resource/primary liaison between Finance Office and College budget managers on budget development, monitoring, and forecasting
      • Develop, monitor, and update projections for College faculty salary budget (-$12m annually)
      • Prepare budget/financial reports and analyses, including those related to restricted funds. With department managers, plan for use of College spendable funds in accordance with available balances and donor restrictions
      • Collaborate with College administration to develop annual tuition and fees proposal, including research and analysis of peer institution comparative data
      • Monitor budgets during the fiscal year, communicate with budget managers and college administration regarding significant variances, and assist in researching trends and transactions
        QUALIFICATIONS:

        • Master's degree (MBA preferred), or Bachelor's degree with minimum 5 years of experience in a professional position with responsibility for budget management and financial/data analysis
        • Experience in budgeting, working with financial information, and data analysis required
        • Experience in an academic and/or musical environment strongly preferred

        • Patience, resourcefulness, and demonstrated ability to solve problems creatively
        • Excellent oral and written communication skills
        • Strong attention to organization, detail, and follow-through
        • Strong computer skills; proficiency with Google Suite and Microsoft Excel and Word essential. Proficiency with visualization software (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, etc.) required.
        • Familiarity with Slate, Power Campus, Power Plan, and SQL server preferred
        • Ability to work with diverse constituencies
        • Ability to work effectively as a member of a team
        • Exceptional judgment, discretion, and integrity when working with students, faculty, and staff in an educational environment
