Emerson is currently seeking a Manager, Project Management Office in Mansfield, MA. The Emerson Mansfield location specializes in the manufacture of safety relief valves for nuclear power plants and valves for US Navy submarines and aircraft carriers.
As a member of the plant leadership team, this position will oversee the successful implementation and execution of customer projects. Additionally, the PMO Manager has responsibility for the team to ensure development of Project Plans and is responsible to the Customer, the Contractor, the Impact Partner and the Company for overall success and execution of the project.


  • This position offers a hybrid work arrangement, offering a mix of remote and in office work.

    As a Manager, Project Management Office You Will:


    • Ensure coordination and management of multiple projects which are large, highly complex, and multi-national.


    • Lead and negotiate the project scope, change orders, progress payments, lead times, manufacturing specs, Terms & Conditions, and all additions or expansions to the project with the Customer, Emerson Impact Partners, and Global Sales personnel.


    • Develop and own the Project Plan which includes schedules, milestones, procurement strategy, execution strategy, financial targets, resources, communications, and considerations of risks.


    • Effectively provide leadership for a comprehensive project team consisting of Project Managers, Application Engineering, and plant personnel who are responsible for executing portions of the project.


    • Interface and continuously communicate with the Customer, Contractor, and Impact Partner throughout the life of the project to provide updates, milestones, and progress.


    • Serve as a higher-level authority to Project Managed Orders for Emerson Impact Partners, customers, and other internal stakeholders.


    • Manage direct reports, provide day-to-day project and HR coaching, and actively engage in their development.


    • Encourage an atmosphere of teamwork, safety, creativity, trust, and respect. Establish and maintain positive working relationships with stakeholders including customers, manufacturing, sales, finance, Impact Partners, and other functional areas to enhance organizational effectiveness.


    • Engage with Customer Contracts teams to provide awareness of the project funnel, potential opportunities, and timeframes of projects.


    • Participate early in the quotation process for high-confidence project wins for familiarity with requirements and resource planning preparation.

      Required Education, Skills and Experience


      • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related technical discipline


      • 5 years of direct Project Management experience


      • 2 years of direct employee supervision/management experience


      • Proven leadership skills


      • Possess organizational savvy and agility


      • Demonstrated learning ability


      • Ability to influence and motivate others


      • Professional and timely written and verbal communication


      • Ability to comprehend technical details and technical literacy


      • Strong Negotiation, Conflict Management, and Communication Skills


      • Presentation skills


        Preferred Education, Skills and Experience


        • Experience in a Sales/Customer facing role


        • Experience managing large customer projects with values exceeding $1M


        • Experience managing multi-national customer projects


        • Experience with the Nuclear Power industry


        • Working knowledge of ASME Sec III requirements


        • Familiarity with Military Specification and Government Contracts


        • Technical knowledge of safety relief valves and valve products, or other technical, highly engineered products


        • CAPM or PMP certification
