Cabot has an exciting opportunity for a Sustainable Solutions Manager to join the Global Marketing Reinforcement Materials team at our Boston or Billerica offices.
This individual will lead the analysis, insights, business case development, and overall program management and execution of Sustainable Solutions Energy and other co-product lines. The position will investigate and assess new investment & optimization opportunities across the carbon black network in collaboration with the Manufacturing sustainability, Technology, and Commercialization teams. Develops and implements business plans for the expansion and introduction of products for specific market segments within Sustainable Solutions business unit.
Cabot Corporation is continually evolving and developing new ways to create materials that improve daily life and enable a more sustainable future.We recently introduced EVOLVE--- Sustainable Solutions, our technology platform for advancing sustainable reinforcing carbons.
We are currently working with customers and technology partners to develop our product pipeline powered by EVOLVE--- Sustainable Solutions, with projects at various stages of development. -
This role has no direct reports but is a high-impact and visible role within the organization.
This role participates in the current Flexible Work Arrangement/hybrid schedule of remote days and in-office days.
How You Will Make an Impact


  • Develops investment & optimization strategies to maximize energy sales revenue, and margins for Sustainable Solutions Energy co-product lines. Provides detailed strategic plan including regulatory trends, value selling opportunities and new customer development. Compiles and analyzes investment thesis separated for energy growth opportunities.
  • Develops strategic business plans that include revenue, profitability, growth projections, and resource utilization. Supports Sustainable Solutions business development team to develop short and long-term pricing strategies by working with various functions to determine programs required in executing the business plan.
  • Maintains the Energy Center Development & Growth Project Pipelines and ensures projects follow the processes as needed to meet business objectives. Working as a Project Leader &/or coach works to ensure high quality of Project Update & Review materials.
  • Coordinates with areas such as R&D and manufacturing in order to establish priorities, and new technology introductions to meet strategic plan targets.
  • Defines, implements and maintain a project management system to effectively manage strategic programs. Facilitates competitive analysis, market analysis and strategic planning for the region.
  • Provides regular estimates of business projections and reports monthly status of programs and projects again the business plan.
  • Supports Sustainable Solutions Business development and commercialization teams to negotiate contracts with energy customers and vendors that are aligned with existing business strategy.
  • Maintains contact with the business units to ensure negotiation direction and results are aligned with the overall business strategy. Manages and monitors the contract process including price changes, reporting design, customer communications and status evaluations.
  • Plans, prepares and monitors departmental budgets and expenditures to meet financial cost targets and objectives established through formal planning processes.

    What You Will Bring to Cabot

    • Bachelor/University degree in a technical field; advanced degree (MBA) preferred. -
    • 3+ years' experience in either industrial marketing, strategy, finance and/or sales.
    • Experience developing strategic business plans, financial modeling, growth projections, project implementations and/or collaborating with stakeholders to execute projects
    • Broad knowledge of marketing and sales principles and practices involving industrial products. - Strong knowledge of chemistry and chemical product applications. - Strong general business knowledge.
    • Ability to influence, collaborate with, and gain agreement from others; leverage and obtain resources even without having direct authority. Excellent oral and written communication skills. - Ability to make effective and persuasive presentations to internal and/or external audiences.
    • Strong conceptual and analytical thinking. - Ability to come up with creative and innovative solutions. Ability to understand inter-dependencies of various disciplines impacted by the product plan.
    • Planning and organization skills in order to coordinate multiple resources, develop and execute business/marketing plans.
