Well, here s your chance to do just that, helping some of the brightest minds in the business craft and disseminate their messaging as part of a dynamic, results-oriented, customer-obsessed group within FI Marketing & Communications.\u200BNOTE: With your online application, please submit writing samples\u00A0that support your capabilities for this role along with your resume.We are looking for a Director of Shareholder Communications who is a skilled storyteller (writer/editor) and analytical thinker who will work with portfolio managers and other Asset Management colleagues, as well as seasoned freelance writers, to develop and manage investment content that is instrumental in driving customer engagement. By providing transparency and insight into Fidelity s investment process, and presenting its deep expertise in a compelling way, you will help to build customer trust/brand loyalty and strongly contribute to firm-wide efforts to retain and grow assets.
Working as part of an editorial team responsible for creating and editing investment content for more than 2,500 commentaries (public/client-facing) published annually, your responsibilities include:

  • Providing dedicated editorial support for, and develop expertise of, a wide range of investment strategies across asset classes
    • Reviewing and editing recurring commentaries developed by internal/contract writers at multiple proof stages, ensuring editorial consistency and accuracy especially regarding style/consistency and that materials are comprehensive, balanced, insightful and reflective of the portfolio manager s (PM s) voice. Group deliverables include quarterly fund reviews, semiannual PM Q&As, legally required annual performance summaries, market recaps and engaging investment thought leadership (PM blogs).
    • Developing, enforcing, and evolving editorial standards; coaching writers to meet these standards and improve their skills and knowledge of the investment process
    • Broad asset-class oversight, but with specialized coverage of fixed income
    • Writing fund commentaries, market overviews and investment insights each month
    • Advancing key initiatives:
      • Promoting greater awareness of Fidelity PMs by amplifying their unique insights as active managers across digital media platforms
      • Driving increased automation in commentary production by leveraging intelligent (AI) tools for natural-language generation
      • Influencing wider adoption of the technology firmwide
      • Providing editorial support for various other fund- and performance-related communications, including annual Board of Trustees reviews, as needed
      • Working directly and regularly with investment professionals and subject matter experts (SMEs), including PMs, research analysts, institutional portfolio managers and product managers, in developing investment reviews/insights
      • Managing written deliverables end-to-end, preparing/maintaining documents within our template-based publishing platform, revising content based on feedback from SMEs and other business partners, ensuring quality control and completeness for print and digital channels, and helping to promote our work and to fully leverage our interactions with PMsThe Expertise and Skills You Bring
        • MBA or equivalent graduate degree and/or CFA preferred
        • 8+ years of relevant experience as a communications professional in the financial services industry
        • Solid understanding of investment products and industry; in-depth knowledge of equity/fixed-income markets and proficiency in portfolio and attribution analysis
        • Proven experience researching, writing and editing investment commentaries, articles, white papers, etc.
        • Demonstrated expertise in communicating investment strategies, investment products, or related financial market and economic topics
        • Experience working with asset management and compliance teams to write materials approved for external investor audiences
        • Series 7 and Series 24 securities licenses are preferred but not required
        • Superior editing, analytical and research skills, coupled with the demonstrated ability to write clearly and creatively and to ensure that other writers do so as well; prior experience developing investment-related commentary in Q&A, narrative and blog format is strongly desired.
        • Ability to take complex investment concepts/data and presenting them in a way that is understandable for investors of all levels of sophistication
        • Strong working knowledge of financial services, mutual funds, and the securities markets; demonstrated ability to convey this knowledge through prior writing is mandatory
        • Organizational skills along with the ability to meet deadlines and manage/prioritize various tasks while maintaining a high level of attention to detail and sustaining overall quality
        • Strong interviewing and reporting skills, with an ability to extract relevant information about portfolio strategies/positioning and performance outcomes, as well as differentiated investment insights, and craft into accessible, conversational, well-organized written content.
        • Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with peers, colleagues in other groups, middle/upper management and investment personnel.
        • Process oriented with project and quality-control management skills
        • Familiarity with Associated Press (AP) style and investment product advertising regulatory requirements
        • Customer focused with a strong commitment to overall quality/excellence
        • Ability to exhibit grace under pressure and consummate professionalism
