Job Description:
Develops conceptual application designs and data process
diagrams that comply with technical architecture standards.
Operates within a variety of server and operating system
environments -- Windows, WebSphere, Linux, Tomcat, MVS, and z/OS.
Uses business knowledge to translate the vision for divisional
initiatives into business solutions by developing complex or
multiple software applications and conducting studies of
alternatives. Analyzes and recommends changes in project
development policies, procedures, standards, and strategies to
development experts and management. Primary Responsibilities: Participates in architecture design teams. Defines and implements application level architecture. Develops applications on complex projects, components, and
subsystems for the division. Recommends development testing tools and methodologies and
reviews and validates test plans. Responsible for QA readiness of software deliverables. Develops comprehensive documentation for multiple applications
or subsystems. Establishes full project life cycle plans for complex projects
across multiple platforms. Responsible for meeting project goals on-time and on-budget. Advises on risk assessment and risk management strategies for
projects. Plans and coordinates project schedules and assignments for
multiple projects. Acts as a primary liaison for business units to resolve various
project/technology issues. Provides technology solutions to daily issues and technical
evaluation estimates on technology initiatives. Advises senior management on technical strategy. Mentors junior team members. Performs independent and complex technical and functional
analysis for multiple projects supporting several divisional
initiatives. Develops original and creative technical solutions to on-going
development efforts. Education and Experience: Bachelors degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer
Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems,
Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and five (5) years
of experience in the job offered or five (5) years of experience
designing, developing, implementing, and integrating workplace
benefit applications according to Waterfall and Agile
methodologies. Or, alternatively, Masters degree (or foreign education
equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information
Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely
related field and three (3) years of experience in the job offered
or three (3) years of experience designing, developing,
implementing, and integrating workplace benefit applications
according to Waterfall and Agile methodologies. Skills and Knowledge: Candidate must also possess: Demonstrated Expertise (DE) defining application architecture
strategies and solutions, and establishing reusable capabilities
and patterns; re-platforming and migrating legacy mainframe
applications to distributed platforms and solutions, using Spring
Batch and JSR-352 implementations; developing and analyzing
mainframe batch flows and programs in Cobol, JCL, DB2, and stored
procedures; migrating and rebuilding stored procedures from DB2 to
Oracle PL/SQL; tuning complex queries to ensure jobs and ETL flows
run efficiently using SQL; migrating application logic from Cobol
to services built in Java; developing rules, using Drools or IBM
ODM; and developing and maintaining ETL applications using
Informatica. DE developing aggregation applications, using Jersey, Spring
frameworks, and Message Broker Tools -- WebSphere MQ and WSO2;
mapping database queries to Java methods using myBatis; and
combining the outputs of internal systems to form a consolidated
Web services response for consumption in XML and JSON. DE designing schemas for Web services using Swagger; developing
Web services -- SOAP and RESTful -- using JSON and XML formats;
performing application build, deployment, and support, using Maven
and Ant; performing version control and continuous integration of
build, deploy, and testing functions, using Jenkins, Stash, and
uDeploy; designing technical design flows using Visio; storing and
configuring access control and encryption with AWS IAM and AWS KMS,
using AWS S3 and Azure Blob; and developing and deploying
containerized APIs -- Docker and Kubernetes -- to AWS/Azure. DE performing Test-Driven Development (TDD) using testing
frameworks -- Junit, SoapUI, and SOATest; creating automated test
suites using automation frameworks -- Cucumber, SOASTA, and Rest
Assured; and troubleshooting and triaging issues by verifying heap
