Job Description - Program Manager / 40 Hours / BWH - Global Health Equity (3144447) The MRCT Center is a research and policy center focused on improving the design, conduct, and oversight of multi-regional clinical trials, with a particular focus to trials sited in or involving the developing world. Our efforts have resulted in the implementation of improved clinical research practices, greater transparency, and improved safety for research participants. We function as an independent convening group to bring together collaborative multidisciplinary teams to identify expert stakeholders from industry, academia, advocacy groups, nonprofit organizations, and regulatory agencies to address critical issues in the conduct and oversight of clinical trials. -- The MRCT Center resides within the Division of Global Health Equity (DGHE). The Division of Global Health Equity (DGHE) fosters the support and coordination of training, research, and service to reduce disparities in disease burden and to improve treatment outcomes both at home and abroad. The Division focuses on infectious diseases (e.g., HIV and tuberculosis) as well as non-infectious diseases (e.g., coronary artery disease, diabetes, addiction) and other health problems (that disproportionately affect populations in the developing world) of major importance to society. The DGHE is the academic and administrative home of the Multi-Regional Clinical Trials Center. -- The Program Manager will be responsible for strategic management, content expertise, and execution of several of MRCT Center's projects. In collaboration with MRCT Center leadership, the program manager will scope the project, create project plans, facilitate workgroups, and draft deliverables. This role will also serve as a resource to leadership in preparing for events, leadership meetings, and collaborative activities in all areas of communication and strategy. The dynamic of Program Manager at the MRCT cener will: Lead the project management effort for several project-specific workgroups including managing strategy for the project and facilitating teleconferences and meetings. Specific tasks include:

  • Research and gain content expertise in the background, requirements, and emerging issues of a project. This may include extensive literature review, legal summaries, literature reviews, and other requested written or verbal reports as well as identifying and speaking to experts in the field.;.
  • Synthesize and speak intelligently about the subject matter both with time to reflect, and in the moment during calls and conferences;
  • Identify and develop practical tools for Sponsors, IRBs, and study site staff to use as it relates to practical solutions of the workgroup;
  • Draft fact sheets, talking points, and presentations for organization leadership. Research regulatory guidance related to clinical trials data sharing and project-specific deliverables. Because the MRCT Center staff regularly present to and prepare material for very high-level government and industry executives, excellent judgment, professionalism, and relevant experience is critical.
  • With leadership, identify funding opportunities and draft proposals;
  • Liaise with partner organizations and like-minded clinical consortia to identify collaboration activities
  • Working independently, effectively providing recommendations to the Executive Director, Faculty Director, and Senior Advisors. With MRCT Center leadership, identify and scope future projects in the focus area of responsibility.
    • Prepare manuscripts for publication as an individual contributor, on behalf of the MRCT Center or MRCT Center working groups, as appropriate for the project or task. The Center is accustomed to submitting documents and comments for publication in world-class journals and to international institutions; therefore, the new hire will need to possess excellent writing skills and be able to clearly articulate complex ideas and proposals with a great degree of clarity.
    • Plan and manage high-level, high visibility events and conferences sponsored by the center through planning and execution. This may include staffing events, orienting of meeting attendees, creation and distribution of meeting materials, meeting set-up, participation in meeting discussions and Q&A panels.
    • Develop communication pathways to ensure all collaborators are informed of objectives, goals, and progress. These responsibilities require excellent communication skills, very careful attention to detail, exceptional management of relationships and professional communication. Working Conditions: Busy office environment with frequent deadlines and telephone interruptions. Nature of our global work may entail teleconferences in the early morning or evening. Qualifications:
      • Bachelor's degree requires; advances degree in a health or science-related field preferred.
      • 3-6 years of project coordination or leadership experience in one or more of the following areas is also required:
        • Planning, oversight, or conduct of clinical trials/clinical research
        • Bioethics
        • Conduct of clinical trials
        • Laws and Regulations relating to clinical trials and human subjects research
        • Global health research Skills/Abilities/Competencies--required:
          • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively;
          • Ability to interact with people from various cultural and language backgrounds.
          • Proficient in use of computers with working knowledge of Microsoft Office software, graphic and database programs.
          • The candidate should have a meticulous attention to detail
          • Advanced level of critical thinking and writing skills that are required in order to provide thorough summaries of complex international regulations and successful funding proposals related to existing or future projects;
          • Highly professional and in possession of excellent social skills for regular interaction with workgroup members, international government officials, and high-level industry executives;
          • Ability to manage several projects simultaneously;
          • The MRCT Center is a fast passed and exciting environment. We are looking for a self-motivated individual who is comfortable working independently and providing recommendations to the Executive Director, Faculty Director and organization leadership. The Program Manager will work with the internal MRCT team, the Executive and Steering Committee members as well as with internal and external stakeholders.
