Albireo Pharma Overview: Territory: Missouri, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Tennessee, Kentucky Albireo is a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company focused on the development and potential commercialization of novel bile acid modulators to treat orphan pediatric liver diseases and other liver or gastrointestinal diseases and disorders. Albireo has deep expertise in bile acid biology and a pipeline of clinical and nonclinical programs. The company's first commercial launch will be Odevixibat, which is a potent and selective inhibitor of the ileal bile acid transporter (IBAT), sometimes referred to as the apical sodium dependent bile acid transporter (ASBT), that has minimal systemic exposure at therapeutic doses and acts locally in the gut. Albireo is developing Odevixibat initially to treat patients with PFIC, a rare genetic liver disease, and plans to consider additional development in other pediatric cholestatic liver diseases and disorders in the future. Our Phase 3 program in PFIC includes a single randomized, double-blind, placebo controlled, multicenter clinical trial and an open-label long-term extension study. The double-blind trial, called PEDFIC1, is underway with data read out anticipated in mid- 2020. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has granted to the Odevixibat PFIC program or elements of its fast track, rare pediatric disease and orphan drug designations. The European Medicines Agency (EMA) has granted Odevixibat orphan designation, as well as access to the Priority Medicine's (PRIME) scheme for the treatment of PFIC. Its Pediatric Committee has agreed to Albireo's Odevixibat Pediatric Investigation Plan for PFIC. Both FDA and EMA also have granted orphan drug designation to Odevixibat for the treatment of Alagille syndrome and primary biliary cholangitis. Albireo will commercialize Odevixibat in the US, Europe & Canada and is pursuing potential partners in remaining regions.Overview As members of the Albireo Clinical Account Lead (CAL) team, individuals are responsible for meeting/exceeding all sales expectations in a compliant and ethical manner. The CAL will play a key role in developing and executing access strategies, identifying customer needs, and driving pull through by working cross-functionally with internal and external stakeholders to help ensure access to therapy for patients. These stakeholders include appropriate Albireo management and supporting Albireo teams. Centers of Excellence (COEs) stakeholders including C-Suite Leaders, P&T Committees, Pharmacy Directors, and external experts. CALs will be accountable for the coordination of their activities, as well as assisting with the activities of the Market Access, Patient Services, and Medical teams supporting Odevixibat in their Institutions/hospitals and community GI/Hepatology practices both pediatric and adult. The focus of the CAL will be centered initially on Progressive Familia Intra-hepatic Cholestasis (PFIC) and Odevixibat. It may also include the potential promotion of future pediatric rare disease products developed by Albireo Pharma. A strong clinical acumen will be paramount in this function for the ability to effectively share scientific information that translates into real world practice in a compliant and ethical manner. Responsibilities:The CAL will be responsible for delivering results against assigned objectives.Navigating assigned Albireo products through the key influential pathways in assigned health care systems to include C and D suite stakeholdersEngagement with key physicians (Pediatric Hepatologists, Pediatric Gastroenterologist, NP/PA, PICU Physicians, leaders, Nurses, Pharmacists, Immunologists and Adult GI/HEP) to increase diagnosis rates and getting appropriate patients on treatment with Odevixibat.Build relationships with key thought leaders to ensure national, regional, and local understanding of targeted Albireo products. Raise awareness of Odevixibat and Progressive Familia Intra-Hepatic Cholestasis (PFIC) with existing expert KOL's. Target residency and fellow programs through clinical in-services, product/disease discussion and educational programs to develop next generation KOLsDevelop and execute business plans that are account specific or part of the overall regional/national strategy to determine the priority and attention level for each account.Define specific account objectives and develop action plan to Identify, key targets and engage KOL's to map referral networks. Effectively determine specific customer needs and appropriately/compliantly tailor messaging to fit those needs Develop and maintain strategic relationships with key health systems to include top down administration as well as thought leaders. The CAL role will be able to understand medical trends, developments, and system priorities, allowing this role to become a consultant and adviser to help develop long term partnerships on behalf of Albireo.Effectively communicate with the proper member(s) of the regional team including Access Strategy, Brand, Reimbursement, and Medical to accomplish objectives consistent with applicable policies. Qualification requirements:Bachelor's degree, preferably in a scientific/medical or business discipline or relevant experience is required.Minimum of 5+ years of successful field sales experience with at least 3-5 years complex Institutional account managementRequires experience in the Rare Disease, Specialty Pharmaceutical, Biotechnology, or Medical device industry. Must be able to engage customers in a persuasive and compliant manner virtually and in personMust be self-motivated with strong desire to achieve successExcellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skillsProven success selling in a virtual environmentExperience with complex access/reimbursement landscape for a biologic with a closed and or limited distributionExtensive knowledge of the Integrated Delivery Networks or Health System marketExceptional Account and Stakeholder Management experience required; strong organizational and leadership skills necessary to coordinate internal and external Stakeholder, as well as strong external facing customer management skills.Strong clinical acumen with demonstrated experience with complex diseases, preferably a liver rare diseasePrior experience working with Pediatric and Adult Hepatologist physicians a plus A valid driver's license and safe driving recordUnderstanding the legal and compliance environmentAbility to have fun and thrive in a growing, diverse, and inclusive work environment Job requires approximately 50-60% travel within assigned geography along with attendance at sales meetings, congresses, etc.
