SCHEDULE: 40 hours, Monday - Friday, 8:30 am - 5:00 pm, this is a
non-essential, hybrid position, working two (2) days remote and
three (3) days on site.LOCATION: 35 Creighton Street, Boston, MA
PAY: $83,616/year + DOE. This position carries a hiring bonus of
$1500.00, payable in instalments of: $750.00 upon hire and $750 at
six (6) months of employment-This bonus is only available to new,
external hires to Pine Street Inn, including temporary staff who
are thereafter converted to permanent employment status. This bonus
is not available to Pine Street Inn staff or paid interns or paid
co-op students who are seeking a transfer to this role. This bonus
is only payable for work actually performed in this role. Employees
who leave their position before they have worked all the time
required for each bonus installment will not be eligible to collect
further payment for their prior position, even if they stay at Pine
Street Inn in another position.- JOB DESCRIPTION:The Associate
Director of Clinical Supports is responsible for the operations and
clinical management of the multi-faceted Housing Stabilization
Team, a clinical support team, which includes Integrated Clinical
Supports, Crisis Evaluation and Response Supports (Crisis Team),
and Peer/Recovery Supports. The Housing Stabilization Team provides
comprehensive clinical supports to both individuals and staff in
the Housing Department, Safe Haven Department and Veterans
Department. The Associate Director must have strong clinical skills
and expertise in order to provide clinical consultation to the Team
so that they can in turn provide support, clinical services, and
appropriate resources addressing the complexities of care for
individuals with histories of trauma, mental illness and/or
addictive disorders, utilizing Harm Reduction as a model of
engagement, intervention and evaluation. The Associate Director
will also provide guidance and supervision to the clinical team to
develop and offer solution-focused interventions that promote
stability, wellness and recovery and ultimately restore housing
environments to their non-crisis state, optimal states of
well-being as quickly and efficiently as possible with housing
retention and promoting independence being the ultimate goal. The
Associate Director will assist with program and policy development,
develop and lead staff training and in-services and will assist the
Director of the Housing Stabilization Team in pursuing new program
funding opportunities. The Associate Director will need to be a
team player and a collaborator, and collaborate and coordinate
services with other departments within the Behavioral Health
division and with other divisions. The Associate Director also
plays a significant role in the implementation of any future
initiatives including expansion of clinical supports as outlined in
the Pine Street Inn-s strategic
plan.QUALIFICATIONS:EDUCATION/TRAINING
- Master's degree or higher
- LICSW, or ability to obtain independent licensure within 1 year
of hire
- Currently certified in or have ability to achieve CPR, and
First Aid certification
- Recovery Coach Supervisor Certification or willingness to
obtain certification within 6 months of employment
- Ten (10) years- experience providing services to adults who
experience mental illness, substance use disorders and may have
symptoms related to traumatic brain injury and experiences of
trauma.
- Minimum of two (2) years clinical supervisory experience
- Demonstrated expertise in developing and writing risk
assessments.
- Ability to effectively identify risk and translate that into
crisis plans.

- Proficiency in word processing and other computer
functions.
- Demonstrated professional communication and organizational
skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to utilize effective crisis intervention

- Experience and knowledge of recovery models and practice,

teamESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Oversee management and clinical practices of the Housing
Stabilization Team which includes the: Integrated Clinical
Supports, Crisis Evaluation and Response Supports (Crisis Team),
Peer/Recovery Supports.
- Provide programmatic oversight and be responsible for the
clinical and administrative supervision of 2 crisis support
clinicians, 2 crisis support works, 1 recovery coach supervisor,
and recovery coaches of the Housing Stabilization Team
- Provide clinical guidance and clinical consultations to the
Housing Stabilization Team. Assist on individual and complex cases
as necessary.
- Provide administrative supports to the HST as needed with
electronic Health Records, documentation, compliance, etc.
- Create resources for HST team to cultivate and coordinate
support services related to accessing after-hours resources such as
detox, respite beds, medical evaluation and psychiatric medication
evaluation, as well as medication management.
- Participate, as requested by Housing Directors and Clinicians,
in case conference meetings. Provide leadership, guidance, and
training to other team members around client rehabilitation
services, including symptom management, skill development, and
psycho-educational services focused on activities of daily living,
as well as social functioning and community living skills.
- Ensure ongoing referrals for Recovery Coach Support services,
set up financial management systems with the Pine Street Inn
Finance Department in collaboration with Billing Specialist and
ensure that Recovery Coach is meeting program goals and outcomes
for billing. Provide appropriate training and supervision to the
Recovery Coach Supervisor to ensure these tasks are met.
- If and when needed provide onsite tenant stabilization and
intervention services which is focused on alleviating the crisis
state, reducing harm and reducing symptoms; provide debriefing
support services to tenants who may have been directly or
indirectly impacted by an onsite traumatic event i.e., tenant
death, non-fatal overdose, violent episode, displacement by flood,
fire or another event
- Responsible for convening and leading regular
program/team/clinical meetings and attend monthly leadership
meetings.
- Assess the clinical requests/referrals for the Housing
Stabilization Team and Crisis Team. Training and supporting the
Triage Specialist to enter them into the EHR system once the
referrals have been clinically assessed
- Develop and provide clinical trainings for the team.
- Provide leadership, guidance and consultation for the team
around tenant rehabilitation services, including symptom
management, skill development, and psycho-educational services
focused on activities of daily living, social functioning &
community living skills.
- Interview, hire, train, and supervise staff, including written
evaluations and progressive discipline when necessary. Manage the
Housing Stabilization Team New Employee Orientation process for the
team; create and monitor orientation binder materials.
- Schedule and oversee clinical training and development for
staff to ensure compliance with Pine Street Inn policies.
- In coordination with Director and Associate Director of
Housing, assess housing locations identified as -hot spots- (these
are locations that experience multiple incidents in a brief period
of time and those incidents appear to be related to a tenant-s
deteriorating mental health, increased substance use, escalating
domestic violence and/or escalating behavioral incidents) and then
direct additional staffing support services to these locations with
the intention of decreasing risk and increasing stability and staff
supports.
- In conjunction with the Director, lead the promotion of
evidence-based practices (EBPs) for the Clinical team; work closely
with Supervisors for each Department to identify staff
skill/knowledge gaps and implement training as needed; develop
supervision tools that promote EBPs.
- Collaborate with the Director to lead a department wide
strategic planning effort for new initiatives and expansion
efforts.
- Working together with the Director, ensure that any funding,
billing, contractual and regulatory requirements are met for all
contracts including but not limited monthly/quarterly/annual
progress reports, internal Pine Street Inn reporting, utilization
of Electronic Health Records systems, etc.
- Working together with the Director to develop an annual budget
for team and monitor to ensure that annual expenditures are within
budget projections.
- Participate in 24/7 on call rotation coverage. Intervene,
provide supports and consultations to Clinicians and all clinical
staff. Keep the Director of Housing Support Services informed of
incidents that are related to staff and tenant safety. At the
Direction of the Director of Housing Support Services work on
creating safety interventions with PSI-s Director of Security.
- Represent PSI and the Behavioral Health Department in meetings
as requested by Director.
- Participate in collaborative networking with PSI programs to
share knowledge and experience and to ensure consistent policies
and procedures. Maintain quality communication with other programs
at PSI, attend periodic PSI and PSI Housing management and other
required administrative meetings.
- Serve as a liaison as it relates to work done by the Housing
Stabilization Team with external organizations relevant to the work
such as Department of Mental Health, Department of Veterans-
Services, Veterans Affairs, and Boston Healthcare for the Homeless
etc. Maintain regular and positive communication with these
stakeholders and funders; develop and maintain other collaborative
partnerships as needed.
- Uphold the rights of all tenants. Be continually aware of these
rights and act in accordance with these rights. Interact with
tenants in ways which establish a climate of respect for human
dignity.
- Maintain confidentiality, including regulations and policies
specific to ensuring compliance with HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2 and
related Protected Health Information (PHI). Maintain
confidentiality in accordance with all other applicable federal
laws or regulations. Maintain confidentiality in accordance with
all applicable state agencies, including, but not limited to, the
Department of Mental Health, the Department of Public Health, and
the Department of Veteran-s services.
- Remain current with all forms of electronic and paper
documentation, as required for tenant records, data collection, and
billing. Prepare, when requested, documentation needed for
guardianships, nursing home placements, representative payees, etc.
Identify and create procedures supporting the efficient
maintenance, regular auditing, and timely upkeep of these
documents.
- Performs other related duties as required. This job description
may be revised based on the development of the Clinical Team
- Due to emergency or unforeseen program needs, staff may be
temporarily or permanently reassigned to another PSI Housing
program at any given time.
