welcomes applications for a Visiting Assistant Clinical Professor
to launch a new Legislative-Regulatory Policy & Practice Clinic
starting in the 2023-24 academic year. The Legislative-Regulatory
Policy & Practice Clinic (Leg-Reg Clinic) would be one of two new
clinics for the 2023-24 school year, bringing to 14 the number of
in-house clinics designed to meet growing student demand.The
visitor will supervise, mentor, and advise clinical students in
their case and project work and teach the related clinical seminar.
The Visitor may teach a non-clinical course in a related subject
area, but this is not a requirement.
Position Description:
The visitor would design, launch, and direct Suffolks new Leg-Reg
Clinic. The Leg-Reg Clinic would be a full-year clinic offered for
10 credits (5 credits/semester) serving students in their last 2
years of law school. Students enrolled in the Leg-Reg Clinic would
work on a variety of local, state, and/or federal legislative
matters, including potentially representing non-profits with
legislative/regulatory policy issues, as well as drafting
legislative and regulatory proposals on pressing issues. The
visitor will be responsible for developing a docket of cases and
projects and partnering with local and national organizations, as
appropriate. The Leg-Reg Clinic could handle a diverse range of
legal issues or focus on one or more specific areas of law, for
example firearms regulation or criminal justice reform. The precise
design and docket of the Leg-Reg Clinic will be determined by the
visitors expertise and interests, as well as the needs of the
community and availability of suitable clinic matters, in
consultation with the Associate Dean for Experiential Learning.
Requirements/Qualifications:
Hours and Duration: This position will begin July 1, 2023, and will
be a full-time, 1-year appointment.
