The SuffolkUniversity Law School Housing Discrimination Testing Program (HDTP) is seeking excellent attorney candidates for a remote full-time clinical fellowship position to coordinate fair housing testing designed to identify and prevent housing discrimination in thirteen communities throughout the WestMetro region. A successful candidate will be highly motivated, organized, and have a passion for civil rights and fair housing. This is a grant funded position for approximately two years, but may continue beyond that if additional funding becomes available.The Fair Housing Testing Coordinator will join a team of attorneys and non-attorneys working at the cutting edge of fair housing testing. Suffolks HDTP has been nationally recognized as a leader in fair housing, and is embedded within Suffolk Law Schools nationally ranked Clinical Programs. The Testing Coordinator will benefit from mentoring and exposure to a law school clinical program. The position is ideal for someone interested in launching a career in fair housing law, legal services, public interest law, and clinical teaching. Past Clinical Fellows have gone on to excel in these and other fields.Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement and coordinate fair housing tests and investigations
  • Analyze testing results
  • Prepare detailed, accurate written reports of testing projects
  • Assist with recruiting, training, and maintaining a diverse pool of fair housing testers
  • Develop and present fair housing educational trainings to diverse audiences
  • Engage in strategic decision making regarding fair housing investigations
  • Participate with other team members in setting the vision for the program
  • Assist in drafting a report of program activities
  • Assist in presenting the report at community meetingsQualifications:
    • D. Required; Experience in fair housing or civil rights law is preferred
    • Strong analytical skills
    • Experience working directly with people with racially, ethnically, and socioeconomically diverse backgrounds; Knowledge of the Metro Boston area and rental real estate market is preferred
    • Highly organized and able to manage multiple investigations, with varying deadlines
    • Ability to supervise fair housing testers
    • Comfortable speaking in public
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and ability to present to diverse audiences, specifically racially, ethnically, and socioeconomically diverse communities
    • Ability to meet project deadlines
    • Detail oriented and able to maintain accurate records
    • Ability to work collaboratively with other staff and community partners
    • Positive attitude and takes initiative without prompting
    • Proficiency in Microsoft OfficeThis position is offered for an initial period of 12 months with the possibility of an extension for the second year of the grant, based on mutual agreement and the Fellows performance and adherence to the relevant terms of employment of the University and Law School. The position will begin as soon as possible.
