Responsibilities: NoneJob Summary: As an integral part of the
multidisciplinary treatment team, the Nurse (RN) maintains a safe
therapeutic milieu, provides direct nursing care, and contributes
to each patient's treatment plan by helping develop, implement, and
document appropriate goals and interventions, informed by patient
strengths and presenting problems. The Nurse (RN) contributes to
the Bay Cove's mission by ensuring the health and safety of
patients of the programs while they are on their recovery journey.
This is an exempt position.Essential Functions of Position: Provide
direct and individualized nursing care to an assigned group of
patients based on proven principles. Respond to the needs of the
patients, address symptoms of withdrawal and implement proper
protocols, communicate with physicians regarding patient's status
and needs, therapeutically block AMA's, and facilitate therapeutic
groups. Prepare, administer, and record routine and PRN medications
in accordance with the policies regarding the administration of
medications. Share responsibility for planning, implementation, and
evaluation of appropriate treatment plans and communicate
frequently with the treatment team regarding patients' physical and
mental conditions. Record pertinent information concisely,
accurately, and completely, according to the established
alcohol/drug protocols as well as any psychiatric/medical
conditions. Conduct controlled substance count and syringe count
(when applicable) at the change of every shift (with one on-coming
and one off-going nurse) and sign the controlled substance
register. Monitor vital signs and assess withdrawal signs and
symptoms per protocol. Recognize and respond appropriately to
priorities in assignments: perform routine assignments
independently, seek direction when indicated for unusual or
non-routine duties, and advise appropriate personnel of situations
requiring additional nursing expertise or technical follow-up.
Communicate units' rules and policies clearly to patients and their
family members and seek feedback to assure a clear understanding.
Respond professionally and appropriately in crisis situations.
Other job related duties as assigned.Requirements for the position:
Massachusetts registration and license in nursing. One (1) year of
hospital experience is required, which involved acute admissions on
either medical, surgical, or emergency service. Prior substance use
disorder or mental health treatment experience preferred Prior
experience with individuals who are unhoused is preferred. Prior
experience in harm reduction and trauma responsive patient care
preferred. Demonstrated professional writing, communication,
interpersonal, and organizational skills. Intermediate proficiency
in word processing and other computer functions using Windows,
Word, and Google Email and Apps. COVID-19 vaccination is a
requirement of the position. One COVID-19 shot is acceptable,
contingent on the individual receiving the second shot within the
allotted time frame. Personal Characteristics: Utilizes a flexible

stakeholder/ partners.Physical Requirements Ongoing detection and
interpretation of information on documents, monitors, and labels
and accompanying response, as well as to identification of
equipment and supplies. Frequent interaction with providers,
colleagues, customers, patients/clients, and visitors requiring the
employee to communicate, as well as detect and interpret
information, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, occasionally
during emergency situations. Frequent communication of accurate
information, instructions, and ideas so others will understand.
Operation of complex and delicate equipment with precision and
accuracy. This includes frequent phone and computer use for
documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication
preparation, etc. Utilization of the full range of movement to
lift, move, or transfer patients up to fifty (50) pounds, as well
as assist with weights of more than one-hundred (100) pounds. Will
also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment up to
twenty (20) pounds. Undertake lifesaving efforts by conducting CPR
via the provision of chest compressions and rescue breathing as
needed until relieved by medical professionals. Frequent movement
throughout the unit to access, obtain, or distribute supplies
(sometimes pushing or pulling equipment), interact with patients,
assist in the transport of patients, etc. Remain in a stationary
position for an extended period of time as needed.Other
