POSITION SUMMARY:The Clinical Pharmacist IPS is responsible for day to day operations, as well as helping to develop strategy and goals that ensure optimal provision of pharmacy support for clinical research. The Clinical Pharmacist - IPS is responsible to comply with department policies and procedures, department mission and value statements, hospital core beliefs, as well as any federal or state regulations pertaining to or governing pharmacy practice and clinical research.Position: Investigational Pharmacist, Inpatient PharmacyDepartment: Pharmacy - Investigational Drug SvcSchedule: Per Diem, Days: Monday through Friday - no weekendsESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:The IPS Clinical Pharmacist's responsibilities include but are not limited to:


  • Compliance with all Federal, State and Local laws, regulations and rules governing investigational study drugs; compliance with all accreditation standards and knowledge of and adherence to all policies and procedures of the organization and department.
  • Maintains of the day to day operations in the investigational pharmacy.
  • Maintains all aspects of Good Clinical Practice (GCP) related to proper preparation, inventory management, and dispensing /distribution of investigational products.
  • Follows all aspects of Good Documentation Practices (GDP) where applicable for data collection.
  • Conducts pre-protocol feasibility assessments.
  • Establishes and maintains study fee schedules and billing procedures.
  • Complies with IPS pharmacy policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for identifying and making improvements to IPS operations including, but not limited to coverage determination, quality and compliance for investigational products.
  • Participates in departmental and organizational committees as assigned. Functions as the pharmacy representative on the Institutional Review Board, and interfaces with clinical investigators and all other members of study team.
  • Responsible for the development of training programs/manuals pertaining to preparation, dispensing and record keeping of investigational drugs. Trains applicable pharmacy staff when necessary and maintains staff training records.
  • Shares IPS on-call coverage with other IPS staff.
  • Utilizes hospital's behavioral standards as the basis for decision making and to support the hospital's mission and goals.
    JOB REQUIREMENTSEDUCATION:
    • Work requires a finished degree from an accredited School of Pharmacy (B.S. or PharmD). Advanced Degree (Master's, MBA) and or completion of an accredited residency preferred.CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED:
      • Work requires licensure as a pharmacist in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts by the hire date.EXPERIENCE:
        • One year of Hospital Pharmacy Investigational Research experience.KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
